Tolerable Location

I normally love staying at Hilton's however, this one was not to standard. The front desk personnel were not friendly and the valets were not helpful. The location is great, private ocean beach, pool and plenty of restaurants to choose from. San Juan sucks to drive in so we stayed around the hotel for our evening. Not much besides food/swimming in the area.

The best pina colada I ever tasted

The Hilton caribe was absolutely great. We had a beautiful view of the ocean. Do yourself a favor when you get there go see Emilio at the fitness center to find out the best places to go offsite for good eats and site seeing. Tell him Lita and Ty said Hi. Lol. Room- had safe, fridge, coffee maker. We didn't use the coffee maker because it was kind of nasty inside he compartment where you pour the water. That was disappointing as we came prepared with our tea but never had a chance to have any. We loved the shower. It was huge, glass with the large shower head in the center that had its own additional adjustable temperature control so there was never a problem taking a hot shower. There was also an adjustable hand held shower head as well. The bathroom had double sinks however most of the time the water would not get warm. We never used the wifi so I can't rate that. Pillows could have been better. House keeping was awesome. They made sure we always had toiletries and towels. The property was awesome. Had a nice smell in the elevators. Plenty of security. The staff was nice. The many pools were great. Plenty of onsite activities for kids and adults daily such as water aroebics, yoga, volleyball, dance classes, snorkeling, kayaking and kid fun. My favorite was the beautiful private beach. No worries of sharks while swimming due to boulders that border. The staff there was great as well. There was plenty of supplied beach chairs and umbrella as well. Water was a pretty blue and you can see through. The grounds were kept nice. The best food is offsite in old San Juan. (You can catch a .75 cent bus and ten minute ride there and back but you have to ask for directions and details on how to access the bus. No one will offer this information. They will make you think that your only options are cabs or renting a car. Cabs are very expensive there. Just to travel 5 minutes in a cab we were charged $17 there and $15 to come back. The ride from the airport is $24.) Be mindful that the bus stops running early maybe about 9 pm or so. Anyway...Old San Juan has beautiful buildings, many bars and restaurants with authentic cuisine, museums, plenty of stands, tents, and stores for shopping. It's blocks and blocks that you can travel on foot during the day but at night it's great too and the local folks come out to enjoy as well. Get your hand made souvenirs here for cheap. Also you can walk to an area near by the Hilton called condado. We didn't make it there but I heard it's nice and offer a strip with alternative restaurants to what's on the resort. If you want a party in the streets with bar hopping, salsa dancing in the streets, be sure to visit la placienta on a Friday or Saturday evening. They party like Mardi Gras there every weekend and the drinks are very cheap as well. Jam packed with locals and tourists it's Definitely an experience. There are many restaurants on site but they are very pricey. The best thing to me was the pina coladas but beware... I bought a virgin pina colada and one with baileys instead of rum at the pool bar and it cost $24. In old San Juan 1 pina colada is $5 bucks at a dine in restaurant there. Everyday that we ate at an on site restaurant at the Hilton our bill was $50 for two people and we only had appetizers and 1 drink. It is the Hilton I guess I should expect this though. The hostess at the Pina Colada Club restaurant at the Hilton was very nice. And the lady bartender and waitress named Oreilly was awesome as well. You can drive throughout Puerto Rico in about three hours. Rent a car or take an excursion right from concierge to zip line, atv or jet ski about an hour or so away. None of those activities are available near by.

Fantastic Location

Nestled between Condado and Old San Jaun, the hotel is perfect if you want to spend a couple of days wandering around and taking it in. However, you could easy spend your time at the actual hotel, lounging by the beach and dining at a variety of restraints. We had a blast.

Anniversary Trip

The hotel is in a great location and has a nice private beach. The rooms in the tower need to be updated, however, and the front desk staff needs better training. I was told I would have my room upgraded only to find out it was not available and the management did not feel there was a need to accommodate us for this inconvenience. The rooms in the tower were dated with peeling paint, uneven floors, and old carpeting. Several calls had to be made in order to get a microwave delivered to our room. Staff was not very accommodating. I would not recommend this hotel to a friend.

This hotel isn't fit to be called a Hilton. If you wanna waste money and a trip this is the one stop shop. Enjoy the lack of staff doing their job and violation of every United States health code at restaurants you can get a away with. P.S. Wait till you have til request clean dishes because all the available have filsh all over them. Or Morton's take used dishes you have used to another table for customers that are just arriving.
