Meh, not really worth the price.
The place was clean, but they were late getting me my room, it wasn't ready until 3:30pm when checkin was at 2! The pool was great, but the internet only worked in the main building or pool area, not in the rooms , the bar was closed on Tues/Thurs nights (a big reason I chose to stay there, but didn't know it would be closed) and the maid forgot my soap/shampoo. There were no real amenities in the room, no coffee maker, no lotion, no hair dryer or laundry bag, typical stuff you would see in a Motel 6. The area of town was great, you could walk to the beach. No parking was available and the cable TV was apparently broken in my room. The staff was genuinely friendly and tried to make things right, but I don't think I would call this a 3-star hotel.

The bus stop for going into Old San Juan is right up the street, but be prepared to wait for about an hour before you see any buses.

Clean, comfortable basic accomodation
Wind Chimes Inn is a great option if you are looking for a clean, comfortable place without too many frills. Prices are reasonable, staff is friendly & helpful, but there are no amenities to speak of. The hotel is in a residential area, but Condado beach's restaurants, hotels, shops and beaches are a 10-15 min walk away. Their sister hotel Acacia, with a restaurant (albeit overpriced) & hot tub, is a better option.

You get what you pay for!
First of all, the Wind Chimes is the hotel that has 24hr reception and the Acasia (not Acadia as advertised) is the sister hotel with the soaking tub (NOT jacuzzi). No idea what that high rise picture on description is! Had rooms on the first floor of Acasia...VERY noisy. Doors rattling/slamming all night! Hair dryer fell off wall, toilet seat broken etc...needs attention! Nice beach close, but bus service to San Juan unreliable. No schedule or maps printed. Taxi is $20 + tip each way for about 5 miles. Best restaurant for walking: Pinkys, Bebos only for dinner, Mangoes good but pricey, Kasalta is a bakery/deli. In San Juan, Punte Vista at cruise ship dock area has authentic food at a good price. Bottom line, pay extra to stay in San Juan and rent a car for excursions.

Great location excellent value
This place was perfect for what we needed. It was clean, the staff was friendly, and the hotel was in walking distance to anything we could need. I originally was kind of skeptical about the hotel. I had read some of the reviews and was unsure what to expect. We arrived in the evening and there was a sign on the door to check in at the sister hotel down the street. But after a few minutes of ringing the buzzer someone came to the front door and let us in. It took a while to check in, as the clerk was new, but we were pleasantly greeted and shown to our room. The clerk gave us some advice of local restaurants in the area. The area is safe and close to many amenities. There were shops and restaurants very close. Kasalta, Bebos, and many other restaurants and shops were within walking distance. The beach was a block away. They have a nice bar in the back of the hotel that was recently renovated. The only drawback was that I was literally eaten alive by the mosquitoes back there. It is a nice retreat and they have a huge wide screen TV to watch sports and relax. Ileana the bartender was helpful with local places to try and things to do while in San Juan. There is a pool that we used daily. It is small but clean and well serviced. I would stay here again and I would recommend it to friends and family.

Pinky's serves a great breakfast. It is just a short walk down the road. For authentic Puerto Rican dishes try Bebo's about 2 blocks away from the hotel. Both places are moderately priced.

Better than great for the price
I only booked hotel once I had landed SJU at 11am. I had a 2pm appointment in Carolina but once I picked up rented car I went directly to Hotel - only to be told that I could not check in until 2pm. When all I wanted to do is to do the paper work and leave my bag. I have stayed in many hotels so I knew that with a 2pm checkin the room may not be ready until then but I am accustomed to being able to check in and check my bag. I was also told that there was a pool, a hot tub, a restaurant and a bar. As I had several appointments I picked this hotel mainly for the hot tub because I knew that once finish with my running I would need it. Needless to say I arrived at 7:30pm and found no one on the desk and no way of getting into the hotel lobby. Another couple was there and they had already called a number posted on the door. We waited well they waited a total of 30 minutes before someone came from the "sister hotel" down the street. here incidentally The hot tub and restaurant is located. I must say that I was a little disappointed tired and hungry at this point and in desperate need of food and I surely could have used the hot tub. Please note that there was a pool, a very nice pool and a bar, a very nice bar. Well I changed clothes had a drink at the very nice bar and went out to Ashford St. to find food. I followed the recommendation of staff and had a nice meal. On the walk back I discovered The Radisson Casino at 10:30pm lost my money then at 12:45am I returned to the hotel to gather my things as I had a flight out at 3pm and I had to return the rented car. Had the hot tub and restaurant been there I would have really enjoyed the hotel ate and saved money. All in all The hotel is very nice and I would stay there again this time fully aware of their check in policy and that there is only a pool and a bar. Pool is open all night and the bar closes at 9 to 9:30.I should have known that it was too good to be true for the price - which was exceptional. Even without the hot tub and the restaurant I can't believe the price.

Changed Reservation without Notification - Frustrating!
Our reservation to changed to another hotel, Casa Caribe, the moment we arrived. We were never informed of this until we took two busses and walked 6 blocks to the wrong hotel. When we arrived, we were told to walk another 9 blocks to Casa Caribe. Luckily the Casa Caribe staff member took excellent care of us. He got us another room at Acacia Boutique Hotel. Luckily, this hotel was in the location we wanted - the residential area close to Condado.

First trip ruined
This was my first time visiting Puerto Rico and I was very excited, and my experience at the hotel effected my vacation over all. I arrived at the hotel to find the hotel clerk to be very arrogant. I was advised at booking I would have a king size bed only to find myself in a full size . When my husband and I advised the hotel they were argumentative and insinuating we were makin it up, and that was only day 1 ..Our last day we received the biggest treat. We walked to the pool area to find locals hanging out by the pool smoking marijuana, when we advised the hotel clerk he told us smoking marijuana and swimming in underwear was common on the island. Me and my husband traveled the island and can assure you not common. We also reserved parking for our 8 day stay unfortunately the parking gate was broken so either me or my husband had to go into the hotel to get someone to open the gate , extremely inconvenient! The remote for our tv disappeard from our room when we advised the hotel we were advised they were "updating" and we would have to use our fingers ! I could go on ! The hotel manager was very kind and professional but our concerns were addressed and all we got was I'm so sorry that happened. I would not recommend this place to any one .For an additional $40 a night you could stay at Holiday Inn which is what I had intended to do but changed my mind when I was told I would have a king size bed and balcony! Do not stay here if your looking to be treated with class !
