Just OK

This hotel is OK. They advertise 10 restaurants; there are more like 3 open per night. Food in the restaurants is good, not great, and overpriced but I think that is typical for a big resort like this. Shuttle to/from airport is $35/person! For a family of 4, a cab is cheaper. Very little entertainment on site aside from the pol and beach. Not a bad place, but you can do better.

First time in Puerto Rico

This is a beatiful hotel that was under renovotaion during our stay, but it didn't bug us too much since they waited until noon to start using the jackhammer. Easy and quick walk to the beach or swimming pools. There is an adult pool and seperate kids pool but don't expect the rule of "adults only" to be truly inforced. The restuarants and drinks were expensive and not that spectacular. They had events like "bonfire and smore's" but come to find out they wanted to charge for that too. They charge for self parking, they charge for a fridge in the room and you're not allowed to bring coolers on site. They offered us a free breakfast for one day but don't be fooled this was they're way of getting us to buy into the "timeshares". Overall it was a nice place to stay but the additional expenses really got us at the end.

Its a Great location if you rent a car.

We just got back from the resort, our first time in Puerto Rico, second week of August 2014, well the hotel was under renovation so expect a bit noise and closed off areas, we stayed in a ocean view room that was renovated already, nice and clean, good size, great views, small balcony, But, No refrigerator in the room, nor Microwave. Coffee in the room taste like water, and NO Bathroom fans in the restrooms!!!! the pool area is clean and nice, but they close the pool at 9:00 PM, which was sad with all the nice lighting and views at night, there are some restaurants in the hotel but pricey, I do recommend renting a car at the airport on arrival, because of the remote location, so you wanna have a car to enjoy the old San Juan downtown and the local restaurant and activities, but they charge $15 per night for the parking which is lame for a hotel, they should charge the other who just come to use the facility and the casino but the guest staying in the hotel should not be paying for parking $15/night!!!

Entertainment tip: Short drive from hotel

Rent a car or take a taxi to local excursions. There is zip-lining, rain forest, go-karting, etc locally that you can do on your own without booking through the hotel. You will save more than half the price by doing it on your own!

Great stay

The hotel was great, staff was very helpful. Things are expensive on property,$15 a day for parking. The Marabella restaurant has really good food. The other 2 not so good. But we spoke to the staff and the had great recommendations on out side locations. So go out and taste PR,you'll spend less.

Enjoyable family vacation

We chose this hotel because of it's proximity to the beach, El Yunque and it's away from the San Juan metropolitan area. We found out it was undergoing a renovation the day before we arrived. We found the hotel easily but that was about it bc check in took 1 hour 20 minutes. At any given time there were 0-3 employees checking people in. Once it was our turn it went quickly, we asked for a renovated room, which we received and we were switched from a rainforest view to an obstructed ocean view room. The room was nice and newly renovated. We did experience difficulty accessing our room as there were only 2 elevators and no stairs to access our East Wing room, we soon found out that only 1 of the elevators would access our floor which proved challenging at times. We opted to self park our car, but after day 2 we decided to valet our car bc there were never any parking spots in the garage. While the valet parking was pricier than we wanted, we felt we had no choice. The valets were great though and always had our car ready for us when we called down and were ready to leave. We tried out the casino, but it is a little small and was crowded, liked that it was smoke free. We enjoyed the Wed night 1/2 price bottle of wine special, my husband and I enjoyed a nice bottle of Malbec for $21. Overall the hotel is nice. Check out only took 5 minutes!

Great stay, food to be desired

The hotel location was great. Our room was in the renovated part of the hotel and was very nice and clean...wonderful ocean view. The construction was not so bad...started around 9am or so. Our only compliant was the food. There was no authentic Puerto Rican food and the wait for food at the Tiki Bar and Marbella Restaurant was terrible. But the chinese restaurant, Shimas was actually very good and the service was great. We were recommended a local restaurant called Richie's...DO NOT GO...it was TERRIBLE!
