Not the friendliest staff
I would not return to this hotel. I have been to PR many times and this was by far the worst service I received. The staff was not warm or hospitable rather they were bothered and annoyed by requests and questions I had. The location is great but because of the terrible service I would not return. Parking is expensive and it's not even valet and there was a lack of parking almost every night we had to park in the employees parking lot.

Luxury at it's best, but bring your wallet!!
Beautiful resort! Great staff, great views, and great facility. The price of food and drinks was high, but we were able to semi-prepare from other reviews that we read before booking. The resort is also a $20 round-trip cab ride from any fast food restaurants or grocery stores, but it was nice to have a hideaway.

Great Stay
I loved this hotel. It was right on the beach. The pool was excellent and the grounds were amazing. It is definitely due for some upgrades in the room and for that i would not give it the max rating. It is also very far away from San Juan and the Airport. The traffic was horrible, about 1.25 hours each way to San Juan, but if you are looking for a getaway, look no further. I did not find the food prices to be high like other reviewers. Loved all of the restaurants.

Good for relaxing
The hotel and beach were beautiful. We truly enjoyed the room and staff. The drawbacks were that we were lead to believe that the hotel was close to everything, when it actually was about an hour drive to San Juan, which is an expensive cab drive to/ from the city and airport. The food is good at the hotel, but expensive- $14 omelet, anyone? You are better off renting a car and venturing out on your own and finding good local food and spirits. Also, tours offered through the hotel are again, overpriced. You can do much better setting out on your own and getting the same tours for a better price. We loved the trip, we'd just do it better next time!

Well....
Facility was very nice, however everything else was way over priced... I think it would be just better if they would just charge more for the room, rather than charge me 35 dollars for two sandwiches and some frys, oh, and a side of fruit... $17 for a cinnamon roll a blue berry muffin and two waters... $44 for breakfast, two omletets one coffee and some toast and juice.... I would have rather just been up front with a more expensive room and normal prices for everything else... Just my opinion...

Family Trip
We recently stayed at the Rio Mar and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The beaches, pool, activities and restaurants were great. The kids loved it as did we. We arrived early and the hotel checked us in and provided a room without an issue.

Rio Mar - First time in PR
I loved the facility, but it was much more of a family oriented hotel than I was interested in. The location (Rio Grande) is PERFECT for the rainforest, scuba, kayaking, etc. but 40 minutes from the airport and San Juan. I found myself driving to San Juan almost daily. Parking was moderate - $15 self /$20 valet Overall a wonderful facility, though.

Spring Break 2012
Over all our stay was good. The service are the restaurants was really bad, the staff is really slow. The food was good. We went to the Marabella restaurant on Friday night for dinner and show. The food was wonderful and the show was entertaining. I read several reviews about missing items from the room so we locked out valuables up however my husbands heartburn medication did go missing.
