Went for a wedding

Common grounds looked exceptional. Beach and pool were nice. Rooms were another story. Sofa sleeper was gross. Cobb webs were evident in the cieling. Concrete art wok in the bathroom had spots of mold. Room coffee was not replenished every day.

If all you want to do is sit by the pool and drink...

... then this is the place for you. But if you want to do anything else in Puerto Rico I would not recommend this location. Other resorts I have visited provide affordable transportation to locales and tourist sights outside their walls. Not so here. As a single traveler, I felt quite trapped until I rented a car. The hotel seemed very family friendly, and the staff was nothing but accomodating. However there are few options beyond resort dining, and the prices were outrageous, even for a resort. $22 for breakfast?! $16 for a tuna sandwich!? The three restaurants were all "high end" and priced accordingly- sadly the quality of the food at the one I tried was mediocre at best. At dinner the only options are $30-$30 entrees... ; The room was clean and the bed incredibly comfortable. the pool and grounds were beautiful. However the beach is small and not what I was expecting in terms of waves and sand. Not bad but not great. I wouldn't stay here again, but maybe I wasn't their target client. It was just not very fun for a single person.

Go to the Luquillo beach food kiosks. You can see them from highway three and it's a $8-$10 meal that beats the pants off of anything at the hotel. Plus, then you're at a beach. You'll feel like Anthony Bordain!

nice, but...

Clean, nice atmosphere, friendly staff. But: hotel very far from island attractions and taxi/tours buses get very pricey...so getting a rental car is a VERY good idea. The hotel resturant food is good, but the selection is fairly limited for pickey eaters, and again pricey.

There was no microwave no mini frig and everything on trump cost to much Trump owns this there are no stores close by but there own connected to the hotel. Room service never answered. You have a dress code to go into the food places connected to the hotel. The casino is very very very small only 30 slot machine. I would not recommed anyone for this hotel ever. I live in MD and I would rather stay home than go to this hotel. breakfast was from 3 days ago do not go to this hotel. WARNING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great place, BUT...

The hotel charges a parking fee which is $32 and they also hold a $100 deposit per night to your card, [...] Other than that, it's a spectacular place to be!

Perfect Relaxing Getaway

It was everything I was looking for in a relaxing getaway. They had everything you needed to get away from the hotel also i.e. car rental, taxi, excursions with transportation. I got to see the best parts of the island with the tours that they set up for me. Gave me great directions to everything I wanted to see when I rented a car. The pool was incredible.

Excellant Getaway..

Great golf on Donald Trump's 2 courses 5min from hotel. All staff excellant. Hotel setting and restaurants are first class with plenty of sightseeing tours available. Only downside is you are isolated on this beautiful compound, approx 40m from old San Juan..so dinner/nightlife off "campus" is not an easy option.

Gran Melia Puerto Rico

First impressions are the most important. Upon arriving, I waited on line for approximately one hour before reaching the desk, due to shortage of staff. Upon reaching the desk, at 5:30 p.m., I was informed that my junior suite was not ready, and would not be ready for approximately one more hour. Additionally, I was charged for incidentals a deposit of $100 before I was even informed they were going to do this. Parking was not free, as I had to pay $16 daily for the entire stay. Furthermore, the fact that I paid for parking, did not guarantee me a spot, as I had to drive several times around their small lot before squeezing into a spot. Aside from the above, I was able to rest and enjoyed each and every sunny day, which I was fortunate to have. The pool was amazing, as was the pool side bar. The surrounding grounds had breath-taking views of the ocean. I loved all the palm trees. My king-size bed was very comfortable and my room was refreshed daily. From the few meals I did have at the hotel, I enjoyed them very much.

My Stay at the Gran Melia

There wasn't a real beach area (could not go swimming). Also, was not expecting to be charged $100/day per person for incidentals. A car rental would be nice to have because of the distance to/from various sites.
