Very Beautiful Resort with Friendly Staff

This was my first time in Puerto Rico and the staff at this resort made my stay a very pleasant experience. I was able to take long strolls on the beach during the morning hours, the grounds were were very clean and overall atmosphere was excellent. The hotel no longer offers all inclusive packages so meals at the reort were costly. We spent an average of $200 per day on breakfast, lunch and Dinner at the Resort for two people. It is easier to find more affordable food outside the resort, Burger King, McDonalds, Baskins Robbins, KFC and others are a short driving distance away. The location of the resort was 30 minutes away from Old San Juan, very close to Luquillo Beach and the El Yunque Rain Forest. Rental Agency is located onsite. Rent a car, it is cheaper than taking the tour. We were able to see El Yunque Rain forest and Old San Juan in one day. The tours are very costly, driving in Puerto Rico is very easy, except that no one uses their indicators. The taxi from the Airport to hotel costs us $64 plus tolls. I would suggest renting a car, then take Route 26 to Route 66 east to Route 3. You will be at the hotel in no time.

If you are looking for true Spanish food, try Martin's BBQ. The food is excellent. Although the name says BBQ, it is not a Barbeque spot.

Gran Melia

Gran MElia PR- Check In Process is extremely slow and frustrating we had a early checkin set up and they told us ten minutes for inspection. We didn't get a room for two hours. But once we got in our room and was able to get the things that weren't in the room we had an amazing time. Fun place for couples or families.

Incredible pool and beautiful facility

The pool was incredible - it is so huge that even when it was crowded there was plenty of room to swim and play. The lobby and room were both beautiful and the housekeeping staff were friendly and responsive. We did not eat at the hotel restaurants but a few of them had a dress code. It is a little far from San Juan but so close to El Yunque. The worst part was that check-in and check-out took forever - there was always a long line. Overall, we loved the hotel and would stay there again.

Beach/Golf escape.

Gran Melia was a great find - once you found it. Poor signage (road signs/billboards) made it impossible to find without call to hotel staff. Friendly staff, clean/simple room. Great place to come for a weekend or a week.

Family friendly

This was a great hotel for a family. The pool is nice and the beach is accessable. It is not a pristine white beach. It has coral and you should take water shoes to wear. You can walk along it and swim in it (keep in mind the tides). Dining was not overpriced for what you get. They are fancy and the food is good. There are several fast food alternatives for lunch just down the road. I do suggest you rent a car. The rainforest was ten min away and not to be missed. There are several other beaches as well. Most have coral formations and are good for snorklers. If you plan to take the 2$ ferry to the islands plan to go early and spend whole day there, get the ferry times. They only have 3 depart times and 3 arrival times, whereas in the states we tend to go every 20 min. We also wish we had built in a day or two to just enjoy the resort alone.

Great Vacation Resort

I travel very frequently for business and have stayed at some very excellent resorts. I must say however, that this resort was by far the very best that I have ever stayed at. The staff was excellent, very helpful and eager to assist you with whatever you needed. The resort was magnificent. The room was very large with a dining area and patio. I would highly recommend this resort for a family vacation or a romantic getaway.

Very Romantic, simply paradise

This is a very beautiful hotel and resort. Food options were small and very expensive! $37 per person for a Okay buffet. Staff was very friendly and helpful. They all spoke engish which made it nice for English only speaking families. This is a very romantic location. Beach was rocky but got better the more east ya walked on it. Would go again in a second. Safe was broken, called 5 times and never got fixed, other than that no complants! Lots of open aired cabanas and lounge chairs. Parking was scarse and expensive but great location.
