Must pay for the good stuff!!
This is a beautiful hotel, with an exquisite view and glamourous feel . However, if you do not pay for the Red Level upgrade you will be in a less than clean room, and treated like a lesser citizen. The basic garden view reservation comes with a purple bracelet, which when the staff see's this bracelet on you, they will basically ignore you...every time. With the red level, you have a much cleaner room, staff will actually acknowledge, even stop you while you're walking to make sure you have everything you need. Also, you and yours will have free breakfast in the morning, then wine and beer with snacks in the afternoon. That is worth it because there are very few restaurants nearby that serve things...not deep fried. We did the base reservation, then because our room was so unkept and service was so poor we upgraded. It was a completely fantastic experience after that upgrade!! Totally worth it! I would stay here again if we go back to PR, but only with the Red Level upgrade. The grounds are stunning, the pool is fantastic and the Red Level rooms are great! Rent a car if you go though, you are very far from anything!!

Grab snacks, booze and a styrofoam cooler at Ralph's on the #3. We had cured meats, cheese, crackers etc for lunch int he room and we made ourselves delicious cocktails to take to the pool! SO MUCH CHEAPER than the $7-$12 cocktails at the bar and pool!!! Also, the bakery just before you get to the 3 serves delicious sandwiches and donuts!

Great times!
The moment I arrived to my hotel room I couldn't believe the views of the sea, they were just astonishing. The staff was very nice and welcoming and the service at the red level couldn’t have been better. The only thing that bothered me was the lack cleanliness of the hallway leading to my room. It seemed it had not been clean in days. I was also surprised to see sand on one corner inside my room. First thought that went thru my mind was that if they oversaw this, what else are they going to oversee? I know that I could have call service since at the red level they provide with your own personal butler, but I was too busy at the beach, or the pool, or enjoying other activities in the island. If you are adventurous I highly recommend horse back riding on the beach, it was just beautiful and worth every penny. Over all it was a beautiful weekend get away, and I would recommend this place anytime.

Great Anniversary trip
Gran Melia is tucked away four miles down a beautiful drive through a golf course. Upon arrival you are greeted by a friendly staff who want to make sure you have a great stay. The grounds are amazing, breakfast is worth every penny and the Red Level upgrade is great for the value but the resort treats all its guest with the same level courtesy. Golf carts are always running and picking up guest. We've stayed at other resorts but this was the best. Beyond great service, we felt at home and comfortable. I would stay here again on my next trip to PR.

Very comfortable, no beach at resort, other beaches are close assuming you have rental car, restaurants are pricey but so are those outside resort (aside from dives) Overall very enjoyable

Awesome Getaway
From the moment my boyfriend and I got there, everything went smooth. The staff were very hospitable and made sure we knew everything we needed to know that was involved with your package. The room was breath taking and the food was delicious. The beach was a couple steps away from our room and great to see every morning. We are looking forward to staying there again. We highly recommend. Thanks Gran Melia!!!

Stayed for a week, Pros: Very nice and enjoyable. Rooms were spacious and attractive. Staff was very friendly. Cons: Hotel did not have many activites. Everything ie: snorkling, water sports etc: were 45 minutes or further away.

Did not meet expectations
The beach here is not all that pleasant and the resort is spread over a large area. One day there was one bar open in the whole resort. Often the few restaurant choices available were not open as well. Reservations could not get it straight that we were in the same room despite the need to make three different reservations. Pool is very nice. There were few umbrellas available and the cabanas all had a charge.

Great hotel!
had a short stay but an awesome experience at this place, staff was very friendly the whole hotel area and rooms were always extra clean, staff showed effort to make you feel comfortable, had beautiful gardens, great pool area and food was great.

Good Overall...But Poor Housekeeping/Room Cleanliness
Overall good resort type experience. But our Room's Bed sheets & Pillows were smelling. The Room's Floor was sticky. Curtains had stains. Bed Runner had stains. Found used T-shirt under table from past guest. After we complained they gave us another room, which was at the entrace of the bunglow. There was a trash deposit area across from our door and the trash was not cleaned up for 3 days. I had to call house keeping 3 times to remove the pizza boxes & other misc trash.
