Outstanding family getaway
The Resort was beautiful. The ambiance was pleasant and the staff. They were willing to meet your needs. I loved the large pool area, and all the seating nooks all over the hotel Transportation is needed. The resort is embedded from the main street. Impossible to walk anywhere. Choose Avis from the hotel itself, you don't have to pay the parking fee of $25.00. There were issues with the golf carts that would transport you from place to place within the hotel, there were only about 3 working for all the guests that were there. To get from the main building from my bungalow # 7 was a long walk. Overall, I had an excellent time. LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not what I thought it would be
THIS HOTEL IS NOT ALL INCLUSIVE!! THE RED LEVEL AREA IS NOT FOR CHILDREN UNDER 10 YEARS OF AGE SO THE RED LEVEL POOL AND BAR ARE NOT AN OPTION WITH YOUNG CHILDREN. PAYING FOR RED LEVEL IS BASICALLY PAYING FOR "COMPLIMENTARY BREAKFAST" from 8-11am which happened to have apples with mold on them, and red level lounge which entales keg beer or bulk wine n champagne from 5:30-8pm. THEY ADVERTISE FREE BALI BEDS BUT THEY ARE ONLY FREE IN THE REDLEVEL AREA. BY THE 24HR POOL WITH THE SWIM UP BAR YOU HAVE TO PAY $25.00 a day. Now that that's outlined check in was fine. THE ROOM PHONE SMELLED LIKE A DEAD RAT AS IF THEY WIPED DowN THE WHOLE HOTEL WITH A RAG AND USED IT ON THE PHONE. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!! I WOKE UP TO SLIP AND ALMOST FALL ON A PUDDLE OF WATER THAT WAS LEAKING FROM A LIGHT FIXTURE. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED AND A MADE A COMPLAINT AFTER AN HR WE WERE MOVED TO ANOTHER ROOM. THIS ROOM HAD A CURTAIN TO THE BOULCONY THAT WOULD NOT CLOSE 3 PEOPLE CAME IN AND OUT BEFORE IT COULD BE FIXED AND THE PHONE DID NOT WORK. TO GET TO SPEAK TO A GENERAL MANAGER WAS IMPOSSIBLE I HONESTLY NEVER EVEN GOT A CALL BACK FROM HIM NOR HIS ASSISTANT. ITS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE THAT'S POORLY RUN. NOT TO MENTION WE WENT FOR A ROMANTIC DINNER @ PASSION RESTAURANT AND THE WAITRESS GAVE US TWO DIFFERENT BILLS FOR ONE NIGHT THE FIRST WAS CORRECT THE SECOND CHARGED US FOR A DOUBLE TIP OF $32.00. IT WAS REDICULOUS!! THEN THE WAITRESS DISAPPEARED ON US AND ANOTHER WAITER TOOK CARE OF THE MATTER STATING IT WAS A "DOUBLE MISTAKE" AND APOLOGIZED FOR HER WRONG DOING... SHE NEVER CAME BACK TO THE TABLE. I HONESTLY DO NOT RECCOMEND THIS PLACE FOR A FAMILY VACATION I WOULD NOT GO BACK THERE EVEN AS A COUPLE FOR A GETAWAY THE FRUSTRATION WAS NOT AT ALL WORTH THE TIME and ENERGY.

Pretty good place to stay in PR
The staff for all but one were really helpful and nice to work with. The location and resort itself is quite beautiful, with a stunning beach location, views, etc. My only suggestion is they have more food options during the day, but if you eat there, plan to spend a fair amount of food. But for relaxing in a nice resort which a private beach, and some fun water activities, this is a great place to stay. And if you have children, they should be more than entertained. Definitely recommend offseason though as onseason seems like it would be crazy there.

Great vacation

Excellent for a quiet getaway
Very nice place, excellent ambiance, good place to relax and get away from it all. Though, beware of the weekends when the locals travel to the hotel, which is not that bad, but can get a bit busy. Recommend the Red Level upgrade.

Gran Melia
It was just ok. At $150/night we expected a little more. The location was nice, private, and quiet, but left little options for dining (inexpensively) . Resort has 5 restaurants but all average $28/person with (soda only - $3.50/can of soda). Rooms did not have mini fridges for guests. Other downers: internet is $15/day; gazebos at main pool $25/day; bar is spendy; pool bar closes at 6 Pam and there are no nightly activities; tennis courts available but have to rent equipment;parking $15/day; linen exchange did not always return wash cloths. Staff was great and friendly! Also bring your own pillows...stiff neck every night.

The place is lovely,staff friendly,rooms great. only 3 restaurants to eat on location, over priced and boring,at least change the menu once in the while. the "beach" sucked!. rent a car and for food, go explore the Kioskos. go to Luquillo for a great beach.
