Honeymooners
Overall the Resort is large and beautiful. The Bungalows are nice and comfortable. The ocean view is priceless but the beach needs some work. The pool is open 24hrs and I dont think i have seen a bigger pool in my life. As our stay got longer our experience was progressively getting worse though. For example: We had been there for a total of 8 days and wasnt told until the four day of being there that we were suppose to have been paying for parking and needed to have a wrist band to get to our room. Again this is a large resort and is or can be a long walk to where you need to go. There are staff on golf carts to take you back and forth from your room and the front desk but having a bunch of them running around when you just want to walk is annoying. We had to walk back to the front desk multiple times after walking all the way to our room to find that neither of our key cards dont work. How frustrating! The resort has a few resteraunts but the food sucks and is way overpriced! The drinks are overpriced and you mise well be drinking water. One trip to Puerto Rico was enough for me.

Some attractions are overpriced and some are very reasonable like the El Morro in Old San Juan. Brings lots of money on your trip because most attractions cost way too much for what they are worth.

Good time
The hotel is equipped very well in order to be one of the best. But don't have enough staff for high demand season. Red level service don't worth the money.

Gran Melia Dec 2011
Overall, Gran Melia was a very good resort. The customer service was 5 stars. The room was luxurious and the grounds, pool, and beach were excellent. They have Kayaks and snorkeling gear for rent. The bay is calm and perfect for those activities. We were not told in advance that there is a $16 per day parking fee. The range of the WiFi network was limited to the lobby, but the connection was fast. Cell phone coverage was also limited to the lobby area. We wish they had provided a mini-fridge and microwave in the room. Gran Melia is very close to El Junque rain forest and several fine restaurants. It is also close to the ferry to Vieques and Culebra and the bioluminescent lagoon tours. It is about an hour from San Juan airport and El Morro. I would stay at Gran Melia again.

Large spacious rooms, no heated jacuzzi, no concierge
Gran Melia has a gorgeous lobby with genius layout of morrocan style furniture and stunning cabanas that allow you to get away from direct sunlight but still enjoy the perfect breeze. No reservation for them either. But they had no jacuzzi and the front desk said we could pay to use their spa. A real rip off we thought. The rooms are giant apartment style bungalows. But they make you wear wristbands to identify special people from less special. The special people get happy hour and a butler. But we did love their complimentary buffet breakfast which was wonderful and lavish. Location is perfect for all adventures such as el yunque, fajardo, etc. they had no real concierge and the older guy was reallly rude.

Don't eat at tempo Italian restaurant! Very expensive and not at all properly prepared italian pasta and super overpriced and small portions. The $15 spinach salad had 5 spinach leaves on it. I swear! Nice staff.

Perfect place for traveling vacationer
The room and resort were absolutely amazing along with the staff. Definitely upgrade to the Red Level, the breakfast and lounge were worth it alone not to mention the adult pool. The location is away from San Juan so you do not get a lot of cruise ship traffic, which was nice. The rain forest was minutes away, along with the cities laquillo, and fajardo; in addition there was an outlet mall within minutes of the resort that was stocked with great buys. The resort was breathtaking and extremely well maintained, when I booked the trip I thought it was the best on the island and I was right. The restaurants are fabulous and the Rio Grande resort is nearby if you want a change of scenery. Spend the extra money, rent a car, upgrade to the Red Level, and stay at this resort, you will not be disappointed.

GO to the Rio Grande resort for dinner one night. It's a short drive but worth the change of scenery. You will appreciate the Melia even more when you see this resort; it is nice but nothing like what you get use to.
