Good time

The hotel is equipped very well in order to be one of the best. But don't have enough staff for high demand season. Red level service don't worth the money.

resort was ok

Resort overall was ok. Location was good being that it was close to The Yunque, tour in Fajardo, Seven Seas beach, Luquillo, Old San Juan and many more beautiful places. The beach at the resort was very rocky. Don't understand why we had to pay for parking.

Hotel needs a "facelift"

Travel at least 6 times annually for PLEASURE. This hotel needs Room "upgrades" as well as the noise level is very poor whereby hearing your adjoining room guests clearly. The front desk staff is friendly however, ALL the restaurant personnel are NOT ACCOMMODATING!! The casino is in POOR shape as many machines (which they have very few were "OUT OF ORDER"! The BEST feature of this hotel is the pool area.

Family Get A Way before College Bound

The Gran Melia in Puerto Rico is a fabulous location. However the service and amenities are not what they have been in the past. We have opted for the red level service in the past which aamong other things includes the use of a private pool for red level guests only. There is also an age requirement of 10 or older at the pool. This affords the guests a very relaxing day at the pool, however this trip the staff did not enforce the age requirement or monitor guests using the pool. The staff was either new or reduced because the service throughout was again not what it has been in the past. In speaking to other guests they mentioned the service at the Gran Melia in the Dominican Republic was outstanding...but again the location and hotel in Puerto Rico are fantastic. Hopefully the service will improve in the future.

close, no cigar

Booked and paid extra for upgrade that was not there. Royal service was not the best or an accurate description of what we got. Had to wait in long line for check in and other services. Hotel ran out of ice, early Friday and had to make an outrageous effort just to get small quantities. Restaurants where outrageously priced for service / food quality.

GRADUATION GIFT

THIS WAS A GIFT FROM MY PARENTS FOR GRADUATION. THE BEACH WAS VERY ROUGH, FULL OF ROCKS AND SEAWEED. tHE OVERALL GROUNDS WERE BEAUTIFUL BUT THEROOM WAS JUST AVERAGE, NOTHING LIKE THE PICTURES. THERE ARE SEVERAL POOLS ON THE PROPERTY AND WE SWAM IN THE ONE CLOSEST TO OUR ROOM, WE WERE TOLD BY HOTEL STAFF WE WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO SWIM IN THAT POOL BECAUSE IT WAS PRIVATE AND ASKED TO GO SWIM AT A POOL MUCH FARTHER THAN OUR ROOM. MY PARENTS PAID FULL RATE FOR THIS HOTEL AND I FELT I SHOULD HAVE EITHER HAD CLOSER ACCOMODATIONS OR THE ABILITY TO SWIMM AT THE POOL CLOSEST TO ME. PRETTY FAR FROM NIGHT LIFE AND THE MAID SERVICE LEFT SOMETHING TO BE DESIRED. THE HOTEL STAFF WERE VERY NICE AND OVERALL THE OUTSIDE SURROUNDINGS WERE GORGEOUS.RIO GRANDE LOCATION GREAT FOR BEACHES AND EL YUNQUE AND THE LOCALS WERE VERY NICE. HOTEL VERY EXPENSIVE NICE FOR A ONE TIME STAY.

Bad Experience

We arrived at 3 and didn't get a room until six. When we did finally get in our room the sheets were dirty. The front desk seemed to feel this was all a very small problem and we didn't even get an apology. We were told by the front desk that we were in a building located far from the lobby but that there would be transportation to the lobby every fiver minutes; however, this turned out not to be true. In reality the transportation ran every twenty to thrity minutes. The general staff were very polite and accomodating but any dealing we had with the front desk were frustrating. I would not recommened this hotel. Also, by the pool, a coke cost $3 for a 4 oz glass (no free refills).

Nice Hotel; However, Not Perfect

Hotel was nice with its facilities. The amentities were quite expensive and there was very little to do at the hotel beyond the pool. Several other area hotels offer many more amentities (i.e. water sports, etc). Also, staff was not very professional or responsive. I have stayed at numerous other resorts, etc. and I was not impressed by the hotel staff. Golf course is beautifull.
