Would not recommend Thu, Dec 3, 2015
I never wrote a review in my life but this place was so bad i need to let people know. Staff was excellent and nice. Rooms were dirty. Not clean. Room service gave us brown salad beacuse it went bad. VERY OVERPRICED. Restaurants were horrible except nami. Breakfast was a rip off. 25 dollars for lunch meat and an omelette. Dont take my word for it try it yourself !

Poor customer service!

Would not recommend Wed, Dec 2, 2015
Our group had a very unsatisfactory stay at Gran Melia. Right from checkin through the following 5 days, their customer service underwhelmed us. At each step, we found their service to be lethargic at best, and rude in a couple instances. What was more troubling was that the perks they advertise in order to have you upgrade to more expensive red level packages, often did not exist. The happy hours were a joke, free appetizers lasted less than 15 mins, hours for outdoor sports were limited, and general attitude was not customer friendly. Most other hotel chains we have lived with have better service. I would not recommend staying at this resort.

wonderful honeymoon

Would recommend Sun, Oct 18, 2015
we were here last month in Sept for our honeymoon. i was a little weary after reading the reviews but i can honestly say i had the best experience ever. i didnt encounter any of the negative things others have experienced.the resort is HUGE and beautiful, the staff is nothing but helpful and extremely polite. we will definitely be going back. we didnt even wana leave! only thing i would suggest is definetly renting a car. the road to the resort is very VERY long and theres no way you can leave without a car, you arent in walking distance to anything. that for me would be the only setback.

Do not stay here

Would not recommend Tue, Oct 13, 2015
I just got back and while my experience was not so negative I wouldn't stay at Gran Melia. There is not entertainment, super expensive and at a distance from all the tourist attractions. We have to rent a car to go to old San Juan. Spent $40 on snacks and the$100 on transportation in 1 day. If you do go to PR do the excursion to Culebra Island. That was really fun.

Service for room was very slow and seemed overwhelmed throughout the vacation. It was over New Years holiday and hotel was full and very under staffed. Staff was friendly and trying their best.

Husband and wife vacation.

Would not recommend Mon, Sep 28, 2015
We had a very horrible inconvenience which resulted in me getting infected by mosquito bites due to a power outage. Never again will I stay at a Melia who doesn't even retribute it's guests for such a horrible experience. It was my birthday and I was getting ready showering and the light went out the entire night. I was left without phone charge and when I asked them when will it be fixed they were clueless. I also asked for a late check out and they insisted that it wasn't available to me. This was the worst experience I had with a hotel. Melia in PR is the worst place ever also the beach had no water activities only kayaking. I never received an apology for the inconvenience and no courtesy was show either. Please share this with the head of Melia so they are aware of the horrific experience we faced on what should have been a beautiful vacation.

What happened to this grand place ?

Would not recommend Tue, Aug 25, 2015
I was shocked to say the least . We have stayed here at least 5 times in the past and always had a great experience. However, I can not say that this time , I most likely will never return again . While the staff is super nice , they just didn't care if you had a problem. The grounds , pool and lobby are beautifully maintained , but the rooms and the house keeping were horrid. The sofa bed was so filthy dirty and broken , we could not use it . We either never had towels or were only given 2 for 4 people . Most days we didn't have wash clothes and there were days house keeping never showed up . The first room we had , aside from the sofa being disgusting and broken, our leg on the bed broke, the aircon broke and put water on our luggage and the fridge was broken. We asked to move rooms , only to have same issue with the sofa and another broken fridge. They put a cot in the room and never fixed the fridge . They have Bali beds by the pool for $75 plus tax rental , but they no longer put sheets on it you must use your towels and to get service we waited for two hours to get the water package that came with the bed . Which when I asked to take the water myself , the girl was offended and expected me to wait longer . All in all it was a disappointment. This truely use to be a gem, it's becoming a hole in the wall. fast and someone needs to step in and save this place .
