Not great

This is a lovely historical hotel right in the heart of Ponce and if I were compelled to stay in Ponce center it probably represents the best choice. Having said that, if I revisited Ponce I would choose something newer away from the city. There was some confusion about our booking through [...]. While [...]had charged us more than a month earlier, the hotel had no record of the booking. As a result, the hotel did not have a room with two double beds for us to use. After a long wait and a number of phone calls from the desk manager, he eventually found us a room, but it had clearly not been used for a long time. There was a very large (and fortunately dead) roach in the bathtub. Perhaps this is to be expected from such an old hotel in the heart of town, but this one had been sitting there for a long time as there were 'expiration' marks on the tub beneath it. The A/C was loud as hell, the room dark and dingy. We could not wait to get out of there. Perhaps our experience was due to ending up in a dubious room, so we only have that one viewpoint to offer, but overall, it was disappointing. Not an experience I would like to pay to repeat.

Great for one night stay

The hotel is well kept and the staff is very friendly. Perfect location in the center of Ponce. No coffee maker or refrigerator in the room. Ice machine and vending machine in the first floor. They have parking which is $3.00 for guests.

Melia Hotel

Excellent location very close to my family who live in Ponce very close to downtown . This trip was very important to me because I had not seen my Uncles in so many years. I understand that family normally stay at there homes but being so American I really enjoyed staying at the hotels.

A comfi landmark Hotel, clean.

Visited the town square and tasted their local natural ice cream. Nice x-mas decorations and folkloric music.

Beauty of Ponce

Hotel Melia is a jewel! This was my first trip to Ponce and I couldn't have picked a better hotel. The best part was the terrace on the 4th floor. It provides a fantastic view of the mountains. Its beautiful. The service and hospitality is superb. The room I had was small, but I didn't come to Ponce to check out the room. Visiting all the sites can actually be done in a day or two. The highlight was the new Museum of Art...it's fabulous. There are a number of cheap eats in the local market, but make sure you get there early.

Nightlife tip: Short drive from hotel

Fri/Sat nights are hot at "La Guancha"; the nightlife of Ponce at the pier. Great salsa, pop, bachata music where you can just listen or join in and dance. There is no admission. I had the best drink called "Sangria al Momento" while at La Guancha.....I enjoyed it to the last drop!

a lovely old hotel

It was a very satisfying experience - the elegance of yesteryear was well preserved. It is in the very heart of the city of Ponce, easy to find and handy to all the best sights of the town. The free continental breakfast was just ok but served on the top floor of the hotel with a great view of the city! The desk clerks refused to recommend restaurants in Ponce - very inconvenient, but we eventually found our way to the Ramada Inn as our best choice. (The restaurant at the hotel is not open because of renovation, so that might prove to be the best choice, eventually)

the Melia Hotel

We were there to attend a Musical about Edith Piaf. The hotel is less than a block from the theater and is right on the "town square." --- perfect location. The hotel is older, the newest section having been built in the 1960's. It has a very nice character, the staff is very pleasant and professional ---- and parking is available in their adjoining lot. We enjoyed our stay and will return!!!
