Get away opportunity

The staff were all very friendly and accomodating. The restaurants in the vicinity were great so we did very little eating at the hotel except for breakfast. The $16.00 plus each day for self parking was bothersome but I guess they all charge for parking. All in all its a beautiful place with its own private beach and several pools. We didn't meet anyone who had any complaints.

Although the hotel has some sophisticated restaurants, there are also several restaurants nearby where the food is excellent and can add to the variety of choices one has.

Kids Resort

Overall the resort needs some remodeling help. The actual resort is not close to what their website represents. Get ready for lots of kids!

good family fun but a bit pricey

room not ready when we checked in, then was not as guaranteed by reservation. Spent the first evening trying to fix. The next evening the manager was able to help and went above and beyond. Lots to do for the kids. Things were busy for holiday week but it never felt crowded. Restaurants/activities a bit pricey even for island standards

Great location, lots of amenities and beautiful setting but far from a 5-star resort

We booked this hotel in Fajardo because of proximity to bioluminescent bay and El Yunque national park. The location, setting and amenities (huge hotel with 14 restaurants) were very good to excellent. The complimentary ferry to the nearby island for water sports/beach is a nice feature). However, this is no 5 star or even 4-star hotel in service and cleanliness of rooms. Despite daily cleaning, room cleanliness was poor (coffee maker was dirty, bathroom was 3 star on cleanliness, even the sheets just don't feel fresh) - clearly, they don't hold themselves to a high enough standard. Service at the casual eating restaurants we tried were very good, but the front desk service was poor - unwelcoming, unfriendly and reluctantly helpful. Concierge would answer questions, but don't offer to go any further in making reservations or offering tips and other information you may not know to ask for. We had a confirmed booking for one of our two rooms for a King or two Queen beds, but when we checked in, we were charged an extra $30/night. There are lots of additional charges: parking is inconveniently far, but self parking is like $16/night, and valet is $22/night. There is also a "resort fee", yet the rather modest water park is another $25/person as I recall. We upgraded to Ocean view, which we did get, partially blocked by palm trees, not worthwhile in retrospect. All in all, not a great value, but if you want the amenities that may not be available in other hotels in this area, this hotel can work out well, just don't expect 5-star service and luxury one should associate with this renowned hotel brand.

Consider a motorized tour of the bioluminiscent bay instead of kayaks, if the amount of paddling in the dark, with lots of other kayaks around you does not appeal. Need to book before arrival 'cos of availability.

Expensive and average

If you are looking to spend $100 dollars a night for two on an average at best dinner, then look no further. The staff was indifferent at best, the accommodations have seen better years (likely the late 80's early 90's), and there is NOTHING to do at night unless paying $6 a beer is your idea of a good time. The amenities were great for kids and families, but having to take a ferry to the only beach option became a bit tedious and ate into the day. The Ferry leaves every hour, so if you miss it you are stuck. The WORST part is that the resort is in Fajardo, which i came to find out Puerto Ricans call Fajardo the "sewer" of the island. The prison is there, etc, so dont think you are going to be able to leave the resort for much more than lunch during the day at a Church's Chicken restaurant. There are two restaurants right outside of the resort that were very nice (cheap and pretty great food), but it is very sketchy outside the protection of the resort and i wouldn't recommend it for families with children (especially at night). If you want to see the splendor of Puerto Rico head far west and avoid this less than 4 star money pit experience.

If you are comfortable rolling the dice on your safety, right outside the resort (less than half a mile from the entrance) to the right are two great food options Estacion is the name, and local fair is their game. Delicious food for a good price, just dont leave anything in plain sight in your vehicle.

Incredible Resort

Had a great time. It is an incredible resort. The only improvement I can suggest is this: We stayed in room # 3510 and when anyone on our floor would enter their room, the door colsing made such a loud "slamming" noise the it was impossible not to be awoken by it. If somehow you could cure this issue, your resort would be "PERFECT" as far as I am concerned.
