great location
This hotel was beautiful, clean and the perfect location, away from the hubub of San Juan. Dorado and the north west area are the most beautiful on Puerto Rico. The staff were happy and helpful. The pool and ocean views amazing. In a nutshell, gorgeous!

Very Nice
Except for the check in, everything was very good about this hotel. The room was OK, the beach was good, the pool was awesome, but the best part was the "free" (included) breakfast. The staff treated us good. As mention before, the problem was that the check in was supposed to be at 4:00 pm and it took almost to 6:00 pm for the room to be ready.

Great spot for the money
A short, easy drive from the airport in a nice looking, clean beach town. Definately not for shoppers. There is a golf course that will really test your skills, $$$, some truly beautiful holes and many interesting features, not the least of which is the abundant wildlife, Igunas, turtles and lots of birds. The staff was extremely helpfull and friendly. The breakfast buffet is typical Embassy Suites and the in house restaurant is expensive and not very good. But the grounds make up for it. Weekends are very busy with lots of kids but on the weekdays we felt like we had the place to ourselves. The beach is protected and very pretty but at times is very rocky and it hurts your feet to walk on it. Overall we loved it and would gladly go back.

Short drive from hotel
We did find two local restaurants that we really loved Tratoria DaNando an excellent small Itailian place, great food and service and Villa Dorado D'Alberto, local cusine and the best saffron rice dish I've ever tasted. Both have very large portions so make sure you are hungry, you won't be disapointed. Both are close to the hotel but will require a car or a taxi.

Great trip 1st time to PR,
Enjoyed the hotel. Beds were very comfortable. Room wasnt ready when we arrived at 3pm. Housekeeping was ok, but they didnt take much attention in details, a few days my coffee cups were still dirty. Breakfast was great since most food was expensive. Driving in Pr was crazy no brake lights and noone really follows the rules of the road. The property was a nice location but if you are looking to do night life and parting then stay in San Juan. It was a bit of a drive to go to attractions. We drove over 600 miles while in PR. Parking at the hotel was good much less expensive then the hotels in San Juan. Some laugage barriers with staff at the hotel but most were very helpful.

Less-than satisfied
We booked a long weekend at the Dorado Embassy Suites because of the amazing rate that we found on Orbitz. We didn't rent a car because the hotel description boasted about multiple restaurants on the property; however, the beach bar/restaurant was only open for lunch and there was only one restaurant inside available for dinner with unappetizing food. When we arrived, our room had a broken shower and a stained couch. The staff was nice and finally switched our room the next day, but it put the wknd off to a bad start. The concierge was very helpful and recommended a restaurant that was a 20 minute walk away, El Capitan, which we really enjoyed. The hotel beach was not very clean- rusty hangers in the sand, and it appeared that they let a lot of locals take up chairs on the 'private' beach. I'm not sure that we would book another stay at this hotel, no matter how cheap the rate was.

Great Hotel with a great location
The location of this hotel is only 30 min. from the San Juan airport. Rent a car at the airport and valet park at the hotel. It was great to call for your car and have it ready with the air on. Tip everytime. We were told at the front desk that we can leave a tip at the end, but that wasn't true. We felt a little foolish thinking about how many times we got the car and did not tip. The hotel is beautiful with friendly staff and clean large room. We loved eating out on the balcony facing the golf course. Breakfast is great, but their can be long lines at the omlet bar. We stuck to the scrambled eggs and meat at the buffet and it was fine. The pool/hottub were very nice, but the pool could have been a little warmer. The beach was great, although small. The website mentions three restaurants, but only two are open. Oregeno (italian food) closed. The food is good, but entrees are a bit on the pricey side. We stuck to sandwiches, apps, and wraps which all tasted good. The managers reception is very nice. They provide name brand alcohol during these two hours. I would definitely come back again. It is a fi

AWESOME!!!!
We were able to get directions to anywhere we wanted to go. The staff was so friendly and outgoing and they bent over backwards if you had even the slightest complaint. For instance they had forgotten to give us a free bottle of lotion in our room and they insisted that we take at least 3 to make up for it and apologized profusely. The rooms are large and clean and we had an awesome view of the water. We have no children, but plenty of people did have children and they had a blast. You can't hear any other guest if you are in your room. Room service was fantastic and fast. The pool is beautiful and has a wonderful statue in the middle. Valet parking was so worth it. They even had someone available at 4:30 in the morning when we checked out. I would recommend that if you stay here you rent a car because it is a little far out from the airport and San Juan. The ferry is not too far (20 min) and you will be in Old San Juan without having to drive on the narrow streets. The Paradise Cafe was so good that we ate there every night for dinner.

Sightseeing tip:
Short drive from hotel
When you go to this hotel, you must go to the Bacardi Rum Distillary. It is only a 20 minute drive and it is a free tour. It was so worth the short trip and the ferry to Old San Juan is just a little farther down the road.

Got what we wanted!
We stayed at the Embassy Suites Dorado del Mar for eight days, and we're glad we did. What we liked: it's clean, the staff is friendly and helpful, there's a great breakfast, and the pool and beach area are very nice. We enjoyed drinks at the "manager's reception" each night. What we didn't like: there's only one restaurant on-site (they claim to have three, but they all have the same menu), fitness center needs an update, and our room overlooked a parking lot. We also wondered a little about the golf course, though we didn't play -- it was looking a little worn, and we didn't see many golfers playing. For several days, we stayed at the resort and relaxed by the pool. We rented a car for three days to do some exploring. You definitely need a car if you want to get anywhere -- there isn't much except Walgreen's and a few chain restaurants in walking distance. We were happy with Vias car rental, which has an office near the resort. We got what we wanted at the Embassy Suites -- the accommodations were clean, the sun was wonderful, and we were mainly left alone to relax.

Very Family Oriented
We stayed first time at this hotel, and we were very satisfied with this resort. The room we stayed was big, nice, and clean. We had balcony with ocean view. The hotel is quiet and family oriented within gated community near a beautiful golf course. There were plenty option to choose from to order food, and the restaurants were within approximately 15 min of walking along the golf course. The restorant was somewhat pricy not too expensive. The management reception every evening with free drinks was fabulous. The beach was located right there on the property. The hotel pool and hot tub were nice and clean, there were also place for children to play. I would definitely go there again.

Very family friendly
The Embassy Suites Dorado is a great one. The view from the room is spectacular. The amenities are excellent. The only thing that I did not like it is that we were a little bit early (3:00 PM) for the check in and they did not offer and/or suggest anything. We have to wait until 3:35 PM without any compliment or give us a complimentary drink or any other suggestion-without a word.
