Wonderful stay

I stayed for 4 nights at Hotel La Playa and am extremely satisfied with the visit! The hotel is right on the beach and only a 5 minute cab ride from the airport. The hotel bar and cafe overlooks the water. The rooms are small but comfortable and the entire staff- restaurant, front desk, housekeeping- were SO friendly and helpful. Everyone gave great tourism advice and went above and beyond to make our trip wonderful. I traveled this time with a friend, but Hotel la playa is also definitely a wonderful place for a romantic getaway!

Good Inexpensive Hotel

This is a small hotel near the airport and basically on Isle Verde Beach. The hotel is on the water but does not have a beach but the beach is just across the entrance to the hotel. The staff are very helpful and the rooms are very clean. Breakfast is basic, mostly bagels, cereal coffee, and juice. Only a few blocks to the main bus route to other tourist areas and Old San Juan and cost just $0.75 but you need exact change. Buses are slow and don't run late at night but great for the day and when you are not in a hurry. The stop is right by the Walgreens a few blocks from the hotel. Large hotels are walking distance if you want to dance, eat out at expensive restaurants, or gamble. La Playa has a good restaurant, LaPlayita, that serves great burgers and the best mojitas! It was nice to be able to hang out or have a night cap at the restaurant overlooking the water at night. Also, the drink and food on the beach are absurd so we just walked the short distance back to the hotel to eat and drink. At the beach you can rent a chair for $4 and umbrella for $10 a day. The beaches were not as nice as in Mexico but still good with palm trees and warm water. This hotel is one of the cheapest in the area. If you are fine with a small but very clean basic room, then I highly recommend this hotel. Also, you can rent a car a couple of blocks away and the taxi to the airport is around $14 to the airport for 2 people with 2 bags. Puerto Rico is expensive and not many values exists. Hotel staff were great!

DO NOT EXPECT LUXURY.

Do not expect luxury, there are no hair dryers in the room, no internet access, furniture needs updating. It is a simple hotel/motel. Food is very expensive, Drinks are ekkkk extremely expensive. The staff is friendly, however be aware Linda does not speak spanish I found that odd. They keep the hotel clean, and the grounds are somewhat pretty with the flowers and so on. It is a very simple place. Continental breakfast is included and it was okay. The beaches are beautiful and the location is also great. Overal our stay was pleasant.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Go eat at the Metropol down the street, food is great and cheaper. Take the bus instead of the taxi, the T5 bus to old sanjuan is just across the street from the metropol. Go to the beach to the right instead of the left is cleaner and less people.

Old San Juan. Lots of good tourist sights and shopping. Sort of like the old Greenwich Village in NYC back in the day.

My First Vacation

The Hotel La Playa was a nice stay, I had no problems there even though I was gone most of the time taking in the sites of San Juan. Whenever I return the room was clean with fresh clean towels. If I had one problem it would be the room not having free wi-fi and the complimentary breakfast did not have a lot of choices to choose from but overall I would stay there again
