So much potential
This location is perfect for me. On a beautiful beach and near so many restaurants and with the best night club in San Juan. Buttttttt, please pay more attention to detail. This is an expensive hotel so why don't we have first class mattresses and pillows? Why were there rusty areas in my shower area? How come the ping pong table is falling apart? And lastly, wow talk about charging for EVERYTHING. It got to the point that I expected to be charged to use the restroom in the lobby. It's a beautiful hotel but someone needs to pay more attention to detail.

Room was gross!
Our room smelt musty and had mildew at the base of the wall and the carpet. The paint was pealing off of the walls and was dirty.

Good enough but nothing to brag about
Nice hotel but be prepared to spend a few pretty pennies at the bar tab and make sure you reserve a good spot by the pool early or you'll be left scrounging.

Great location and scene but poor upkeep of hotel.
We stayed at this hotel because we had heard great things about the nightlife, within the hotel, the proximity to Old Towne and the cleanliness of the beach. All that we heard was spot on in respect to what we experienced. Unfortunately that was the extent of the pro's in staying at this hotel. The rooms were certainly outdated and poorly maintained; there was mold on the wall in our bathroom and the furniture was old and decrepit. The staff weren't very keen on cleaning the rooms thoroughly, replacing amenities (i.e. soap, towels) nor showed a sense of urgency for any level of service. That said, the location and nightlife was prime. The bar, club and lobby were all very active every night with live bands, dancing and drinks. The beach was clean with ample space for laying out or drinking by the pool bar. We didn't spend a lot of time in our hotel therefore were able to deal with the lack of maintenance within the hotel.

Stay somewhere else
This hotel claims to be recently rennovated but if thats the case, they should rennovate it again. The rooms are sparse and the white walls and furniture make you feel as though you are in a jail cell. The walls are paper thin- you can hear your neighbors next door. Not to mention the loud partyers that are heard all night long in the hallways. Do yourself a favor- stay somewhere else.

Spring Break
The hotel lobby, pool area, and jacuzzi was beautiful! The rooms need desperate updating, they do not match the glamorous lobby. We were not aware of the resort fee so we were hit with an extra 200 dollar charge. I did not like that the pool bar closed so early ( 5pm). The best part of the hotel was the live bands in the lobby and tanning near the pool.

Do not waste your money on cabs!! There are many car rental places in the area, it is guranteed to save you money and explore more of the island. There is a great Peruvian Restaurant called, Ceviche, highly recommend it or Punta de Vista in Old San Juan, great food without the high price.

Good, not great
the ESJ is nice, but the staff isn't quite what you would expect. The pool, beach access, and restaurants are great, as are the rooms, but there isn't quite the level of comfort provided by the waitstaff to make it a great resort.

Great time in Puerto Rico
We were very undecided about staying at the ESJ due to some bad reviews, however we were very happy we did stay at the ESJ. The resort is beautiful and the staff was very friendly, polite and helpful. The beach is beautiful. The food was good although expensive, but this is the case throughout the carribean. We bought soda, beer and snacks at Walgreens which saved some money. The local beer, (Medalla), was a bargin at the resort a bucket of 8 bottles for $32. Went to Old San Juan for dinner, Dragon Fly and Al Dente were very good. We did the Cataraman trip and we all had a good time.
