Dining
- Breakfast
- Treat yourself with the rich breakfast from the Grande Hotel de Paris, served in the early morning freshness ambiance and with the flavor of other times. The main hall "Sala Belle poque", where you can find at your disposal an extraordinary assorted buffet, is a pleasant room which maintained the structure of its early days and also opens its doors to the magnificent garden. Enjoy the quality of national products, from which we emphasize some traditional Portuguese sweets such as "leite-creme"- milk cream, sweet milk rice, "rabanadas"- Portuguese French toast and a big variety of biscuits, certainly a memorable gastronomic experience.

Very good, like last year. I have only one remark. Breakfast on the 24th of June could be extended, because it's the day after the Festas de Sao Joao, and everybody has been partying all night long.

Couple weekend trip
Location, decor & cleanliness were superb. Some problems encountered though....we had requested a "double" but 1st room we were given (310) had 2 twin beds. Asked for a double and was given 302. Didn't realize it until the next morning but the shower doors only slid open approx 30cm (12in). Going sideways, my chest would not fit through; I had to remove the doors, get in, replace them and then reverse the process to get out. I told the front desk what had happened and the clerk only shrugged and said "it is a small room". I explained the room was fine; the shower entrance/egress impossible. Was given 301 and all was good. Breakfast buffet had many, many choices but many of the items ran out and were not replaced in a timely fashion. All in all it is a great hotel and a great bargain. I would stay there again (but not in 302). :-)

Very nice hotel
Lovely old place. Beds and bath amenities are acceptable. We were a little surprised that there was no air conditioning in the room. But with the windows open, we stayed cool enough, but the Portuguese can be quite noisy quite late. The breakfast was the best of our trip. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Plus, it has a very good location.

Great location but in need of some work!
Hotel in great location for sights in Ribeira area. Communal areas are lovely with old furniture and quirky items but our bedroom was definitely in need of an update - especially the bathroom which had massive damp problem on ceiling. Good value and friendly staff - but only basic amenities (no complimentary toiletries, hairdryer etc etc) Breakfast had vast array of pastries and cakes - you'll be spoiled for choice if you have a sweet tooth!

A very clean, old fashioned hotel
A very clean, old fashioned hotel with lots of charm and interesting old furniture and equipment dotted about. Not for those who revel in plastic 5* establishments. Breakfast was regularly replenished and there was plenty to choose from. We were a group of 5 who were stranded in the May 2010 "ash cloud" and the staff could not have been more helpful. Rooms were made available at acceptable rates when we could not fly home - no rip off merchants here. A most acceptable hotel - rated by travellers who have been using [website] for around 7 years.

Very old hotel and elevator seldom
Very old hotel and elevator seldom worked; inconvenient with heavy luggage. Room very small. Breakfast room was charming and food average.

Historisches Ambiente in zentraler Lage
