The hotel is very good. The Shearton in Porto is better. Better probably because it is newer. This one is nice. Pleasant personnel always with a smile and ready to assist you. Some of the pleasantries of life (wifi) are really expensive in this hotel and should really be supplied without cost to the visitors. However, I probably would stay there again if I go to Lisbon for another holiday. Really convinient location to the subway, bus and taxi transportation. Easy walk to the the port and the old section of town. Harder to go back to the hotel as it is all uphill.

Short drive from hotel
Go to the Armazen 12 district which has a whole line up of great fish restaurants. I recomment the 5 oceanos. taxies are relativly inexpensive.

Central and smart
Short stay. Food was good in ground floor restaurant. Had several vegetarian options which surprised me. Bedrooms have amusing glass walled bathrooms. It felt quite Japanese in design to my eye. Lifts are a bit small but typical of Portugal. Nearby mall great for cinema, simple eats and buying clothes or presents - a short walk away.

Fantastic hotel !
I stayed here for a work conference for 3 nights - great hotel, fabulous food in the restaurant and breakfast room, very efficient staff, and great gym room and pool. The hotel was decorated in a modern style and did not disappoint. The bar and restaurant on the top floor had fantastic views. If I had a minor gripe it would be the price of drinks in the bar, but that's what you get for a five star hotel.

Got "bumped" from requested Club
Got "bumped" from requested Club rooms for first night due to Chinese Premier and entourage staying at hotel . Rest of visit was good at a great hotel.

would have prefered a more central local
It was fairly close to a major art museum, but not in a neighborhood thats fun to walk in We took the subway to other area in the city. The hotel seemed to be more in a business area. I would not recommend it for those who are there for pleasure.

Exterior of the hotel is old &
Exterior of the hotel is old & blan but the interior is very modern & chic. The reception staff were not too helpful nor attentive. Assistance were not five-star quality. Stayed 3 nights & the complementary tea/coffee in the room was never refilled after the first night. Sensor-detecting mini-bar also gave & left a cheap impression of the stay. Location a bit way off from the center (5 mins walk to Avenida da Republica, 15+ mins walk to downtown Baixa). Considering the pricing & experience it wasn't worth the money. Better off staying at hotels near the center.
