Near the Airport but far from Old Town
This hotel is close to the Lisbon airport - just a 10 Euro cab ride; and to the Oriente train station - just a 5 minute walk which was helpful for us since we took a train to Porto. It is also close to the Aquarium and the Science Museum. It is also close to a shopping center which has a wonderful food court - plenty of food choices to select from including American fast food restaurants. However, this hotel is far from the Old Town of Lisbon which is about a 30 minute bus ride depending on traffic and it cost 1.75 Euro each way per person. Our room was average size. I rated it 2-star for cleanliness because the carpet looked dirty - maybe because it was light colored and had a lot of stains. We dared not to walk barefoot in the room! The airconditioning was not working at peak performance either.

Very good hotel with large comfortable
Very good hotel with large comfortable rooms in a modern part of the city close to an underground/rail station and a busy shopping centre and the Casino and the Aquarium. If you can get a period with a special price it's worth it. You can see the sights of old Lisbon but you'll have to take the underground or a taxi first.

The Service was not at level of
The Service was not at level of a 4 star hotel, specially the breakfast including the size of the room which was to small (leading to high waiting for table times).

Modern, stylish and very comfortable
Modern, stylish and very comfortable hotel with a brilliant location, depending on your objectives. Situated in the area where Expo-98 was held it is right next to the Casino, and within a few minutes walk of the world-class Aquarium, a buzzing shopping centre with cinemas (films are screened in their original languages in Portugal so the cinema is perfectly feasible for English-speakers), a major concert hall, trade exhibition spaces, and the Oriente metro/mainline station. If you are looking for traditional Lisbon, however, you might not want to stay here, although everywhere in the city is reachable after a short metro ride.

A great hotel for guests wishing
A great hotel for guests wishing to stay in the Oriente region of Lisbon - close to the airport, close to the Orients rail hub and close to the new developments around the Lisbon 1998 World Exhibition site. A great part of Lisbon, and so handy to a wide range of transport options to explore the amazing variety of things that Lisbon has to offer the visitor.

We were more than pleasantly surprised
We were more than pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the hotel after a "very" long flight from Australia. Reception staff were very friendly, professional and welcoming and the room facilities were excellent. We were struck with the quietness of the rooms - no hint of outside noise or from the rooms next door. A great plus was the choice of air conditioning or the ability to slightly open the window in the room. Hotel Olissippo is very well located in terms of both Lisbon airport and the Oriente transport hub. We will be returning to this hotel within a week.

Good location - close to bus/m
Good location - close to bus/metro/train station (and only a few minutes drive from the airport). An ample selection of restaurants/bars + a shopping centre close by too. The Expo98 (water gardens, cable cars, aquarium, etc) and proximity to the river are great for just relaxing/a daytime or evening stroll. No info provided on Lisbon/attractions but staff friendly/helpful.
