Traditional boutique hotel, prestigiously situated directly on the Rossio, Lisbon's main square, facing the castle of St. George and the historic Alfama district. Within walking distance of the Baixa business area, and just a few more steps to the legendary Chiado and to the picturesque Bairro Alto. Completely renovated in 1993, the Metropole offers modern air-conditioned accommodations, all furnished in the 1920's period. A real jewel in the heart of Lisbon! Each of its guestrooms has its own character and is individually styled and decorated, varying in shape, layout and interior. Excellent starting point for discovering the art and history of Old Lisbon, as nearly all points of major cultural interest and the glamorous downtown shopping area are within short walking distance. The hotel offers amenities such as bar, doctor on call, laundry service, lift/elevator, lobby, parking facilities - at cost and reception. Breakfast included. The hotel is non-smoking hotel.

Misrepresentation

The hotel description makes it appears as if each room has wireless internet. But, internet access was avaiable only in the lobby. The breakfast was decidely ordinary and limited when compared to breakfasts at other comparably priced European hotels.

Great Location...but that's about it.

Great location, but overall this hotel is not what is appears to be in the pictures. Our room was not clean (stains, dirt on the carpet, linens had a very strong bleach odor), and the entire place is in desperate need of renovations.

Meets the need for touring and eating.

The Metropol Hotel is strategically located for each access by walking and public transportation when needed for visiting all of major tourist attractions and art lovers interest in Lisboa, Portugal. We would stay at this hotel again.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Brave the many street barkers and dine at most any of the restaurants off the main square that is directly in front of the Metropole Hotel. Finding a mid-morning or afternoon snack is very affordable and a snap at this location.

Nice hotel on Rossio. Our back

Nice hotel on Rossio. Our back room not much view but very quiet. We booked a double bed and got two singles. All transport within a minute or two and airport bus outside. Breakfast very good. Staff friendly. Would stay there again.

Séjour 3 jours à Lisbonne

Bon accueil, chambre pour trois spacieuse, propre, petit déjeuner correct. Très bon emplacement pour visiter, transports à proximité. Au cœur du Lisbonne historique. Adresse à retenir.

Lage TOP - Komfort naja

AUSSTATTUNG Bett, Klo, Bad, Klima, Safe, Minibar - alles da. Internet (Wifi) ist nur in der Hotellobby verfügbar. LAGE Die Lage kann eigentlich nicht besser sein - Rossio ist das Herz von Lissabon. Metro auf der anderen Straßenseite, mehrere Buslinien und Taxistationen vor der Tür. SAUBERKEIT Das Personal ist bemüht die Anlage sauber zu halten. Es ist halt alles ein bisschen alt, gebraucht und renovierungsbedürftig. KOMFORT Mini-Doppelbett mit unbequemer Matratze (billiger Federkern der quietscht und gut spürbar ist) Kästen, Komoden, Tische, Sessel besser nur anschauen als benutzen - alles sehr wackelig. PERSONAL Haben wir nicht viel gebraucht, sind nett - nicht überfreundlich. Service (Wäsche, Frühstück, ...) war gut. PREIS/LEISTUNG müsste eigentlich PREIS/LAGE heißen und ist -mMn- nicht zu übertreffen.

Super Lage ein Auffrischung wäre mal gut

Ein schönes stilvolles überschaubares Hotel. Zimmer auf der Platzseite zum Rossio (Platz) haben eine schön Aussicht auf die Burg. Sind aber dafür auch relativ laut. Die Fenster sind nicht sehr Schalldicht. Frühstück ist oky . Könnte noch etwas mehr verschiedene Früchte haben. Man kann aber auch unten auf der Strasse in Vers. Cafés gut Frühstücken. Personal ist sehr freundliche und hilfsbereit. Die Zimmerpreise sind relativ hoch. Das Bild mit dem Frühstück auf dem Dach mit dem Balkongeländer ist eher ein Werbebild. Wir waren nun schon 2 mal Gäste im Hotel und haben auch die Zentrale Lage und die nähe zu den ÖF geschätzt. Das Bad und so manche Einrichtungsgegenstände würden mal eine Auffrischung gut vertragen. Wobei diese auch einen gewissen altertümlichen Charme haben.

Prettig, relatief eenvoudig hotel

Prettig, relatief eenvoudig hotel gelegen aan een van de beroemdste pleinen van Lissabon, beter kan haast niet. Minpuntjes zijn misschien de moeilijk te vinden ingang en de trap zonder plankier voor een koffer.
