Creative, boutique hotel combines style and innovation with location
The Internacional Design Hotel Lisbon overlooking Rossio Plaza combines Portuguese tradition with innovative design. This 55-room boutique hotel boasts the work of renowned architects, designers, decorators and artists that spent months melding the principles of Zen, Urban, Tribu and Pop culture into a succinct, successful property. From the outside, the lit lilac façade draws guests in while the interior décor inspires them to learn more. The hotel also features Naoki restaurant (international and national cuisine) and the Rossio Wine Bar.
Highlights
  • Innovative, unique design
  • Naoki restaurant and wine bar on site
  • Bathrobe and slippers
Rooms
Each floor at the Internacional Design Hotel Lisbon is different and reflects one of four aesthetics: Zen, Urban, Tribu or Pop. A white bedspread, the only constant in the controlled chaos, creates a clean focal point for the rest of the furnishings. Depending on the theme, bright colors, loud artwork, refined lines or funky prints are commonplace. Guests choose among S, M, L or XL rooms. All rooms include twin or queen beds, sound proof windows, hair dryer, telephone, mini-bar, wireless Internet connection, LCD TV, bathrobe, slippers and in-room climate control. Amenities in the bathrooms are by Rituals. The XL rooms feature Jacuzzi tub and views of Rossio Square and/or Rua Augusta.
Features
The Naoki restaurant serves international and national cuisines and is a great option when guests want to stay close to home. Afterward, the wine bar provides a long list of specialty wines to taste and try. When guests want to leave, check in with the concierge about the best places to visit. The hotel can rent a car, reserve a spot at one of Lisbon’s hottest restaurants or simply provide you with directions.

Fantastic

This was my first visit to Lisbon and the hotel location could not have been better. Walking to many of the top site seeing destinations, night life and right on the main squares and promenade. Staff was extremely helpful and did everything possible to make my stay enjoyable.

Funky little hotel in great part of town

You can't get any better than Internacional Design Hotel's location. Right in the heart of Lisbon's Rossio Square, it makes getting around to the action super easy. We went to Thieve's Market, the Castle on the hill, took an open jeep tour, rode Tram 28, and walked around and shopped and ate in various different parts of the city. My only complaint about our room was that it was quite small, with little to no room to maneuver around the king-sized bed. There was also for some reason no iron provided, with an explanation along the lines of it being a fire hazard...whatever. Other than that, the free welcome drink tickets and hotel staff were very accommodating and helpful overall.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Walk up the hill to see some Fado at the famous Chapito. Even if you miss the night when they're performing, the view and the ambiance outside are worth it.

Extremely well situated.

The hotel was extremely well situated at Rossio & convenient to so many Lisbon sites, buses. Staff was helpful & friendly, rooms were very clean & original. Free Wifi included. Buffet breakfast is good & available by 7am; pricey vs. convenience. A few suggestions for improvement: since sink areas are so small, a soap dish w/b very useful and less mess. Tub was very slippery, so bath mat or nonslip material w/b advisable (we had a mishap which luckily only resulted in bruised shoulder rather than something serious like a cracked skull). The elevator not stopping at every floor is simply not a good idea for travelers or staff moving luggage.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

Actively map out your main sightseeing targets & what else is nearby (note the days/hours open). Utilize the buses/trolleys wisely - save time & energy. Eyewitness Portugal came in handy for us many times. OBTAIN the GO LISBOA Card (good for MORE than just Lisbon sights!) for savings on entrance fees & bus fares. Belem on Sunday (free entrance 10am-2pm) is a crowded zoo! Best food experiences were generally off the well-trod tourist hustle area (better food, prices, service). We noticed cash tips were very appreciated (about 10%) instead of just added to credit card total - at least you ensure your server get the tip directly.

Location, Location, Location

The decor was totally refreshing and location was fantastic for downtown Lisbon. The staff was extremely helpful in helping solve the parking problem and also was so helpful in getting us our luggage which was delayed en-route in Amsterdam by KLM. Breakfast in their new dining facility was great with some wonderful surprises for hotel included breakfasts. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who likes a little bit different decor and a fresh new stay at a great hotel.

Lisbon Boutique Hotel

Just an overnight stay in the Capital - at this nicely-located hotel - With its pretensions of High-cool, as a boutique hotel. It is all a bit dizzying - with glass and shiny surfaces - and perhaps over-clever - but good fun in central Lisbon. Very hand for Lisbon's main shopping district.

4 day stay, Awesome location,

4 day stay, Awesome location, right in the heart of the city. Hotel was clean and comfortable; The Hotel staff were polite but marginally unfriendly, I got the impression from the staff we weren't "cool" enough to stay. On the topic of "cool" but of a different kind, there were problems with our air-conditioning on the second and third night of our stay, inquiries made to fixing the issue on our final night (as it was 30-C in the room after a particularly warm September day) was met with indifference, possibly because it was our final night. Adequate for a short stay, but I think we would have moved to a different hotel if our stay was any longer than 4 nights.
