The Hotel Duas Nacoes Residence was a traditional Lisbon boarding house, now restored in old Lisbon way. Cheap and convenient

It's so cheap - I was afraid to book it: a room with facilities was USD 145 per 4 nights stay It is conveniently located in the middle of everything - though the surroundings are a bit noisy. Old building, old carpets, but all-in-all it's bearable and good value for your money

Very cheap, convenient location

It's so cheap - I even was afraid to book it. Very conveniently located, a bit noisy surroundings though. Clean, very basic; I took a room with facilities inside, and still about USD 145 for 4 nights! Very good value for your money, recommended.

Stayed for a night between flights...

I stayed here for just a night, and while it was good enough for that, the room was not air-conditioned. There was just one tiny fan, and it was almost too hot to sleep, as I went in August. Other than that, the room was fine, the people friendly and helpful. I especially loved the location. There were some beautiful sights just outside the hotel, and a number of great attractions just a short distance away - I only wish I'd had the time to see them!

Great, affordable, downtown location

We chose the hotel for its affordable price and because it looked like it had "character." It met all the criteria and more. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room, breakfast and facilities were basic but comfortable. We were fortunate we checked the small print when booking and made sure we booked a room with a private bathroom. The location right above several outdoor restaurants meant it was a bit noisy at night, but we soon joined in the lively activity.

A very central location for sites,

A very central location for sites, shops and restaurants. However, it is very noisy and the breakfast is poor. Better not to be included and so allow you to get a coffee and croissant at the numerous cafes.

The hotel had overbooked & sent

The hotel had overbooked & sent us to another hotel without even as much as an apology. Would not recommend.

Sound isolation was poor. Street

Sound isolation was poor. Street cleaning car noise was high even at 4th floor at night. No air condition but no problems in March 2010. There were no cheese or meat at breakfast, but this is two star hotel so it is OK.

the staff here should be commended.

the staff here should be commended. they are really helpful and friendly. facilities are adequate, but for the location and price this hotel is a bargain.

Great location, small rooms, helpful

Great location, small rooms, helpful staff, Internet facility not good - is a sub-lease kiosk approach & doesn't work, despite attempts to help by staff.
