Good Hotel - Reasonably Good Value
We are in our 60's, seasoned travelers who look for quality and value and generally stay in 3-4 star hotels that are not in the tourist district. The Chopin is a good 3-star hotel a bit out of the way, but with very easy access by tram to the Old Town. Good breakfast buffet - many tour buses bring travelers from around Europe. The Krakow train station is only 2 tram stops from the hotel. Rooms were clean but very small though adequate for two people.

Sightseeing tip:
Short walk from hotel
The Krakow botanical gardens are just a short walk from the Hotel. They are beautiful and worth the price of admission (about US$1.50).

Stay Review
The hotel looked a bit worn down but it is an older 3-star so it wasn't too bad. The breakfast was excellent, I stayed in other 'better' hotels this trip that wanted extra fees for less of a breakfast. The location was close to the Market area but could be a bit of a trick to find when first driving into town. The main downside is there not only weren't irons in the rooms, but there was only one iron for the entire hotel. It was in a small closet-type room on the top floor and had a tendency to leak water all over the clothes. There was also no tea/coffee provided in the room as seemed to be the norm at other hotels I stayed at during the trip. If you park to load or unload the car make sure it's in front of the doors under the overhang. Otherwise the parking attendant will take down your license information to charge for parking.

Money-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
There's a liquor store a short walk up the street away from the traffic circle that's open late if you don't want to spend all your money at the bars.

Good hotel for a fair price. We
Good hotel for a fair price. We only needed a bed. It is just a 15 minute walk to the fabulous city center. Krakow has plenty of good restaurants and we enjoyed several of them.

We very much enjoyed our stay
We very much enjoyed our stay in Krakow. The Chopin is a little way out of the Old Town, approx 1 mile which we walked every time. The streets outside the Old Town are not the cleanest and best maintained however we felt safe.
