Exceeded expectations
This was my first visit to Manila and the Peninsula came highly recommended. With expectations high, I would say they were exceeded. From the staff to the gym to the grand lobby, it couldn't have been much better. Very attentive staff, friendly drivers and great service. I'll definitely stay again next time I visit Manila.

Terrible Service; Bogus Php8,500 Manila Peninsula Membership Fee!!!!!
Terrible Service; Bogus Php8,500 Manila Peninsula Membership Fee!!!!! People beware!!! I am sharing our terrible experience with Manila Peninsula so everybody will be aware how terrible and what money making scheme it seems they have right now. In July 2012, we availed of the Peninsula Manila membership, not because we are dying to have it but due to unrelenting texts and calls of Peninsula agents even at night. Yeah, the name is Mel De Leon, 09178965859. They are that inconsiderate when marketing calling you even at night time. Back to the membership thing, we received the full membership letter and cards and coupons in a modest envelope. The envelope contains a letter signed by a certain Sonja F. Vodusek, General Manager of Manila Peninsula. The card membership looks modest too, which has silver markings on a black background. The Membership booklet contains coupons to be claimed, among others, the ONE NIGHT ACCOMMODATION IN A SUPERIOR ROOM. Here comes the bitter part. Last mid November 2012, we tried to book the room ahead via telephone as required by them as printed in the booklet. We were assisted by an attendant but told us that the hotel booking is full for our date. So we suggest another date and again the attendant replied that the hotel booking is full for that date, again. However, the attendant assured me that she will find a way and that SHE WILL CALL ME AGAIN SOONEST WITHIN THE DAY TO CONFIRM IF THE BOOKING PUSHED THROUGH. Hearing her assurance that she will call me, I said okay and waited promptly. Unfortunately, I waited the whole day and I did not received a word from them again. I was practically waiting for nothing!I tried calling again but they have no answer whether the booking pushed through or not. I felt exasperated. Next week came, I tried booking again for the holiday season only to find to my horror and great dismay when the attendant told me that the our free room is already forfeited for not showing up! I was fuming with madness and replied that it was not our fault since I waited for their promised call the whole day and I followed up but they did not confirm anything. How can a supposedly 5-star hotel treat us like that? After taking our payment of P8,500 in advance, the hotel now treats us like garbage. I feel sorry for ourselves. We are long time customers of Sofitel and Shangri La and we have never experienced anything like this. How can such a 5-star hotel behave like that? Totally terrible. I have tried reaching them out and caling them but they avoid answering the phone. By the way, they have caller ID so they know if you are the same caller. I will just think that I gave my P8,500 to the poor. Or donated to the corrupts at the Manila Peninsula. Or maybe a Peninsula employee has taken our room. Who knows what could have happened that night? We are just thankful that we stayed in our home and was kept safe. May God forgive you and may God have mercy on your souls.

Extraordinary memorable vacation
From the moment I entered the hotel I was greeted with a friendly smile at the door. The friendly staff handled my luggage and ensured it arrived at my room safely. The staff host escorted me to my room and thoroughly showed me all the features of the hotel, before leaving. Upon leaving he wished me a pleasant stay. I really appreciated the prompt service and especially enjoyed the free breakfast buffet offered to guests staying over the weekend. The variety of food was amazing with every choice of breakfast entrees imaginable. For example eggs cooked any way you like, a fresh fruit bar, sushi bar, assorted pastries, pancakes, waffles, french toast cooked to order to your liking, assorted meats including pork langonisa, chicken tocino, fried fish such as tilapia, etc. Fried rice, home fried potatoes was also available and cooked progressively to ensure freshest food for guests. Service was prompt and courteous and the waiter knew my coffee preference after the first day and had it ready for me each subsequent day i stayed there. I highly recommend staying here at this 5 star hotel and will stay here again.

Great hotel, perfect service
went to Manila for the first time ever and was advised to stay at makati, got a good rate through orbitz for the peninsula, and what a great treat. The location of the hotel is perfect, with easy acess to everything, and the staff was so helpful. I got a weekend rate which included breakfast, but at checkout found out that breakfast was only for the weekend, and I was charged for the extra days, but when I complained that it was not clear at checking in and reservation, the hotel waived the charges from the bill and were very understanding about it. The rooms, lobby, restaurants, bars, and spa are just amazing and the staff make you feel so safe and welcome.

Luxury at it's finest
The Manila Peninsula was one of the best experiences I've had while traveling. They provided excellent service combined with an eloquent environment to relax and forget all of my worries. The lobby takes your breath away as you enter and begin to realize the beauty and elegance. The staff are friendly and helpful to any need you may have. It was very nice to hear a good morning or some form of a greeting at any time of the day. The restaurants provided a great place to eat without having to travel far. The pool was the perfect place for my family to relax when we had nothing planned for the day. The Manila Peninsula's perfect location in the heart of Makati City makes for a great experience. Anything you could want to do be it shopping, eating, or just strolling along is right there! My family enjoyed our stay at this wonderful hotel and will be coming back again when we return to the Philippines.

Elegant and Historic Hotel in the Manila
I made many trips to and from the hotel to the airport and to other parts of the city. It was well located, but the traffic in Manila is very bad. THe hotel staff was very friendly and they worked hard to make my stay easy and enjoyable. The food at the restaurants was also very good. The only unpleasant surprise was the 25% taxes and fees added to the bill.

Best Hotel in Manila in my opinion
The entrance Lobby is fantastic and there is a group plays Classical music on the Balcony. Its so relaxing.Food is excellent, staff lovely ,I have stayed there many times over the past ten years, and will always go back.I feel "transported back to another time ".I worked out side Manila for two years and tried many hotels ,until i found the penninsula. It is expensive to eat and drink there but if you enjoy ,then the cost is irrelevant
