Diplomat Hotel

This hotel website is misleading about the non smoking rooms. When I checked in today and asked for a non smoking room, the receptionist told me that all rooms are smoking. I ended up with no room for the night and charged of a cancellation fee. I am not recommending this hotel to anybody.

THE HOTEL PROVED TO BE LOCATED CLOSE TO MALLS AS WELL AS TO LOCAL BANKS AND RESTAURANTS ALL WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE . TRANSPORTATION WAS READILLY AVAILABLE . HOTEL HAS EXCELLENT PERSONEL READY TO ASSIST IN ANY WAY THEY COULD . THEY WERE POLITE AND VERY WELL INFORMED AS TO YOUR NEEDS . RESTAURANT HAD A GOOD VARIETY OF FOOD AND DRINKS AT AFFORDABLE PRICES . SECURITY WAS PARAMOUNT AND VERY COURTEOUS . FRONT DESK PERSONEL WERE VERY ATTENTIVE TO YOUR NEEDS AND VERY RESPECTFULL AS WELL AS COURTEOUS. ROOMS WERE CLEAN AND KEPT CLEAN BY THE MAINTENANCE STAFF .OVERALL AN EXCELLENT, CONFORTABLE STAY . NO PROBLEMS WERE ENCOUNTERED. GOOD JOB DIPLOMAT , THANK YOU FOR A MEMORABLE STAY . RECOMMENDED FOR REASONABLE PRICED HOTEL WITH VERY GOOD SERVICE , I LL BE BACK.

The Diplomat was a reasonable hotel. Decent location, with Robinsons Mall and a few decent restaurants within walking distance. Staff were friendly, although seemed a bit preoccupied with talking amongst themselves sometimes. My room w s good, fairly spacious and comfortable. It was old, but reasonably clean. The on-site restaurant was good. WIFI costs were okay, but the speed was pretty slow. Decent hotel, good value for money if you don't mind a few rough edges.

The Hotel staffs are friendly and the location is accesible to transportation, shopping mall and businesses.We tour the city during our stay.This is our first time in Cebu and we did enjoy our stay.

I went to the Philippines on vacation with my best friend [we are English teachers in South Korea and only get 9 vacation days...we wanted a break from the harsh winter!] We stayed at the Diplomat Hotel in Cebu and it was the biggest disappointment. First of all, it's not at all close to the airport OR the beach. This wouldn't be a problem, what with the plentiful amount of taxis in the area....except that each taxi seemed bound and determined to rip us off. Normally, travelling to the beach by a metered cab would cost 250pesos. However, even the guard at the hotel [who we were told was to ensure that guests are NOT ripped of by taxi drivers] was more than willing to let the drivers try to give us sky-high prices [the guard even suggested to one driver that he charge us 1,000pesos to get to the closest beach--ridiculous!!]. Additionally, the guard was not polite in any way [as was the rest of hotel staff...everytime we had a problem/question/etc. they acted reluctant to help us...] I feel like the hotel is NOT in a safe area; we were awakened to the sound of sirens every night. It's not close to ANYTHING [by walking] except for a "mall". [I hesistate to even call it that...] There is no airport shuttle, and a high charge for internet use. Our room was on the 7th floor, which is apparently where hotel staff/random other people live. So that was kind of awkward. Also, the were really loud, shouting in the halls at all hours of day and night. The worst part, however, was that our room was INFESTED with ants and cockroaches. It was completely and utterly disgusting, and hotel staff refused to do anything to remedy the problem. [It was like that when we first arrived...we kept NO food or drinks in our room, apart from what was in the refrigerator]. It was so awful that we were unable to stay there [quite frankly, I'm surprised that we were able of staying there for as long as we did...] so we took the loss, packed up and moved to a different, INFINITELY nicer hotel [Costabella Beach Hotel--I would most definitely recommend staying there!!] on Mactan Island, right on the beach [I found an amazing deal for that particular hotel on Agoda.com] Anyways, I absolutely would NOT recommend that anyone stay at Diplomat Hotel. Search the internet to find a good deal and spend a little extra money to stay in a nicer hotel with kind staff [and most of all, no insect infestation]. This will make your trip to Cebu MUCH MUCH MUCH more relaxing and enjoyable!!

Hotel that has seen better days in the old centre of Cebu City, down the street from Robinsons Mall. Friendly staff, WiFi available (about 50 peso per hour). Hotel has adjecent spa that offers clean and good massage (about 350 peso per hour). Good value for money.
