The Arqueologo Exclusive Selection Hotel, come to life from the restoration of an old colonial house located in the historical heart of Cusco. Its architecture keeps to tradition and colonial style and thus blends beautifully with its surroundings. The hotel's original Inca walls , its exceptional views of Cusco , the ceilings with visible wooden beams, make it very cozy and unique.

Nice Hotel, be careful with your credit card!

Pros: the hotel is beautiful, especially if you get an upstairs 2-story suite like we did w views of the mountains and private garden. Breakfast is great too, but DOES NOT open at 6am, so if you have an early flight you won't get to eat (they seem to have it together by 730/8). They're helpful w securing taxi transfers and directions to attractions. Showers were good and hot. Cons: we paid for the room online and they charged us at our arrival while we were visibly suffering altitude sickness and they were plying us with coca tea. Very tricky ; I thought it was a bill for the drink! They also haven't responded to confirm they canceled the charges, and as we're traveling abroad for another wk we can't cancel our card right now. So they might be robbing us blind as we speak. Also the advertised restaurant was "broken" so we had to go hunt for dinner uphill while not feeling well for lack of room service.

Shopping tip: Long walk from hotel

You find better deals at super market for the regular stuff- liq our, fruits and consumables. For hand made stuff go to the San Pedro market and near by stores. We bought 2 queen size wool blankets for $60 US each. We also purchased alpaca ladies coat - paid $250 top design from a high end store.
