At Casa San Blas Boutique Hotel are a home away from home. But is not just the splendid decor of hotel that lends comfort to your stay. For , it is service that really counts and aim to personify the warmth and character of the city of Cusco and its inhabitants. Hospitality has always been the virtue of this city in the Andes which once received pilgrims from the whole Inca Empire, and now welcomes guests from all over the world. Chose to locate hotel in an 18th century colonial-style house in the historic artisan's quarter of San Blas in order to provide guests with a sense of Cuscos magnificent history. The restoration of a modest merchant's house was achieved without sacrificing the pleasing proportions of what had once been a family home. Retained and even recovered elements of the original design, and incorporated other elements unearthed during the work - including original Inca masonry - to create a unique style. The hotel has a well-trained team dedicated to making your stay in Cusco a memorable one by leaving you free to explore the archaeological capital of the Americas while take care of you and your loved ones in a home-like atmosphere. Hotel, the first Boutique Hotel in Peru, has been created to provide guests with a distinguished service based on individual, personalized service and attention to detail in a comfortable, home-like atmosphere. The hotel is situated in San Blas, which has been the historic artisan's quarter of Cusco since Inca times, and lies just two and a half blocks from the main square. It is a neighborhood of narrow, picturesque cobbled streets and whitewashed colonial-era houses, with red-tiled roofs and wooden balconies. All around the hotel, craftsmen and women work in the doorways of their stores and workshops and antique dealers display the legacy of the city's Inca and Spanish past. At Casa San Blas Boutique Hotel in Cusco are dedicated to the preservation of Peru's textile tradition, inspired by the wisdom of ancient Incan and Andean cultures, and have decorated hotel rooms with a select collection of weaving designed to provide guests with an insight into the history and meaning of the mystical symbolism of the Andes.

cozy hotel in a great location

On our first day, when we were adjusting to the altitude, I thought we were going to regret choosing a hotel located in the hilly San Blas neighborhood. Walking up the steep streets was a real workout, and balancing on the narrow elevated sidewalks was quite daunting! Once we adjusted to the altitude, we learned to appreciate the charm of this beautiful section of Cusco, a quick 5 minute walk to Plaza De Armas, yet just far enough from the crowds of the bustling city center. At the front desk, Russell was extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay. He arranged a wonderful and cost-efficient one-day Sacred Valley tour for us within just a day's notice. A hot breakfast is included in the stay. The fresh, local fruits were an adventure to try! The hotel shuttle to and from the airport was very convenient. Actually the shuttle back to the airport was a taxi which the hotel gave us cash to pay for, which was fine. The porters are all very friendly and attentive. Cusco in June was quite chilly at night. Hot water bottles were placed in our beds every night, and a heater helped warm the room. The room we stayed in wasn't quite as soundproof as I would have liked, however, earplugs did the trick. One suggestion would be for the hotel to provide bottled water for guests since it is not advisable to drink or brush your teeth with the local tap water. However, many stores around the hotel sell bottled water, and we found one small grocery store around the corner that sold a large (about 2 Liters) bottle for 2 soles. We would definitely stay at this hotel again. Thank you, Casa San Blas, for a wonderful experience!

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

In the nearby Plazoleta de San Blas, there is a small market called Tawa on the second floor of one of the buildings. It's a good place to do last-minute souvenir shopping, as they have many local chocolates and candies with clearly labeled prices.

Great location, staff and hotel

I stayed here two nights before I went on the Inca Trail and it was a great location to my tour operator and to get around town. The staff was very friendly and made sure I had everything I needed to be comfortable. The food was great and the atmosphere was very pleasant. I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a nice hotel with character and charm and a very attentive staff.

friendly hotel downtown

We have found the staff very friendly, and helpful. Taxi shuttle saves a lot of trouble and a few soles. English spoken and staff helpful to getting to places around town. Authentic friendly Peruvian hospitality. Its not the Ritz, for the price, a very good value.

Good Hotel amidst the Chaos!

We chose this hotel for its location, free airport shuttle, breakfast and wifi. First, the good stuff. This hotel is very clean. So, when you come inside from the crazy, dirty little town it resides in, it is refreshing to enjoy a clean oasis of sorts. Their turn down service is also a nice touch given that the rooms are small. If you can swing it, get a room on the third floor which are much more spacious and have direct access to the top floor patio. From the top floor of those rooms i bet is a really nice view too! Be forewarned though, this hotel is next to a music school, so you will hear some practicing by young, aspiring musicians during the day on weekdays from the patio area. Breakfast was also good and if you ask them, they will gladly cook you eggs to order. The beds were comfy and warmed up for you if you let them in for turn down service with hot water bottles. This was a big hit amongst our group! There is also always available a coffee and tea station, which makes for a nice break in the middle of the day or when the rest of the town takes "siesta" Now, the downsides....Unfortunately, despite receiving a confirmation email with instructions on how to board the hotel shuttle, the hotel staff forgot about us and we had to pay for a taxi anyway. According to their policy, it is good for only one way though, so we were to get the service on the way out. Yet, when we got into the transport on the way out, they informed us as we were sitting in the car, that it would be $15 soles. Needless to say, we were a bit agitated. We could have gotten out and waited for the "free" transport, but at this point we did not care to argue about the $5.80 US (conversion rate of 2.6). It seems that the staff here has a problem communicating amongst itself. They also had the wrong days down for our return from Machu Picchu and I had to forward my confirmation email when we were checking back in from our trip to the Inca ruins (we spent a night in Aguas Calientes- the town at the base of Machu Picchu) Also of note is the way this hotel is built, it is very prone to noise. The first night, we were amongst very considerate guests, but the following two nights, people were very rude. The hotel staff did nothing to quiet anyone down. Our neighbors ended up shushing the guests who were making noise at 3am. Then again the third night/morning, people were waking up early (5am) to board the morning trains to Machu Picchu and I don't think realized how much noise they were making. The hotel should make signage to tell guests to be considerate of noise at all times, especially during the weeeee morning hours. There is one small sign in the stairwell, but if you are never using that way up or down, one might never see it. So that's all! A decent hotel, probably a little overpriced, but I thought it was worth it for the reasons we chose (minus free airport shuttle of course!) If you count the free breakfast, transport, and wifi, it is a good value.
