Had a great time!
This place was recently renovated so the lobby and elevators look great. However, once you step off on one of the other floors, you can tell this hotel's age. The room itself was also renovated and quite comfortable, but again there is a mix of new and old. Some furniture is modern/contemporary while some things are clearly a throwback of when the hotel was new. However, everything was very clean. The pool is TINY and appears to not get much sunlight, so not the best place to stay if you wish to sunbathe and lounge. The breakfast was excellent--buffet with a mix of traditional American items (pancakes, scrambled eggs, toast) and some Latin American options (try the oatmeal!). Also great selection of fresh fruit. Overall, was a lovely stay. If you need help making reservations or coming up with ideas for day trips, check in with Nizia, the coordinator in the business center, she was fabulous! Lastly, if you are on a budget, don't use the cab drivers loitering in front of the hotel--grab a cab up the block and it will cost you much less per ride (there's no metered or standard fares). Also, if you speak a little Spanish or have a cabbie who handles English well, you can ask him to be your driver during your trip. Many of them have business cards w ph #s/email to contact them to schedule pick-ups. We met Hector grabbing a cab back from Casco Viejo and he became our go-to guy the rest of the trip.

There is a Lebanese restaurant called Beirut that is very close to the hotel--very good! Was told to try Niko's Cafe if wanted an "authentic" Panamian experience--was a little too "authentic" for us. Would not recommend it unless you are on a tight budget and needed a very quick bite to eat. Also, Rey's supermarket is on the next block, great place to pick up basics for picnics, snacking, etc.....

We had one bad experienced, the hotel ran out of water from Saturday at 9pm - Sunday 6pm, and no air conditioner either.

A nuch needed respite
The hotel was very nice, but several of the common areas were extremely cold. Staff was msot helpful, but langauage barriers were a problem at times
