We had a great stay at the Scandic Neptune! It is in easy walking distance of all the sites in Bergen. A little mix up about our room was quickly corrected by the hotel staff. Good value for the money.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Purchase a Bergen Card for the number of days you plan to visit. It provides access and discounts to many museums, attractions, and transportation in the city.
I actually really like this hotel for the money. He came with a free breakfast and they have vouchers for the gymnasium one can go to around the corner. The room is very clean though I found the light switches for different rooms in very strange
places in addition to the fact that I only found two wall sockets for power. Besides all this I found to be extremely good tell especially for the money.
Both Scandic hotels I stayed at (Bergen and another city) in need of refurbishment. May have been 4 star when new but far from it now. One staff member extremely aloof bordering on rude. At first was given a very small room in the corner looking
on two busy (noisy) streets with energy-saving lights that were hardly flickering definitely in need of replacement. Only after expressing disappointment was I given a proper standard room - a little bigger, quiter, with a little better lighting. Hotel was half empty and standard room was what I booked (albeit for one person) so don't understand the need to put me in the inferior room at first.
Luggage room is off right by the entrance to the hotel, open at all times and unattended - did not seem secure at all.
Information, when asked for, is given in very piecemeal fashion almost to the point of being useless and confusing.
Breakfast was good.
Truly a comfortable hotel and the staff are just lovely - each and every one of them. Room is very comfortable, shower is magnificent and the food is good. Stayed a few nights and the price doubled for the last night as it's season now so great
hotel but got pricey.

Short walk from hotel
Bryggen Tracteursted is in the older houses section, get the small samplers at the back of the menu - seriously good. house wine is good.
