Centrally located nice hotel
The hotel has a nice breakfast area overlooking the bay. Our room was somewhat on the small side.

Discovering Norway
The Admiral is a fine hotel, but don't expect it to meet American standards. This is a different Country with different traditions.I was quite taken aback at the unfriendliness and lack of answers to our questions. We still enjoyed Bergen, but found our way around on our own. The rooms are small, but very comfortable and clean. The bed and pillows were great. There isn't an alarm clock, but the TV has a feature available for wake up calls. We had to request an iron when we booked the room. That isn't standard in an economy room. The hotel didn't pass on messages to us, so don't depend on that feature. There is free coffee and tea in the restaurant for hotel guests, but they will ask you to take it out of the restaurant unless you are ordering from the menu. The breakfast included in the room is wonderful, and a great help if you are on a budget. We didn't eat any other meals in the hotel because of the high prices. It seems most restaurants in Bergen average $50-$100 for a main dish. McDonald's is within walking distance and it was $15 for a Big Mac combo, no refills in Norway!! I would advise anyone visiting Bergen to go with an open mind and you won't be disappointed. Research well before your trip.

Although the cost seemed expensive
Although the cost seemed expensive having stayed in Norway we now appreciate everything is expensive!. Good rooms and breakfast included even though it did not say so. Due to road works a bit difficult to access on foot. Would stay again.

Clarion Hotel Admiral in early May
The Clarion Admiral is in an excellent part of Bergen Bryggen, right on the water with a view of old town. If you are accustomed to European hotel rooms, the small size and basic accommodations are fine. Our room had a view of the harbor which was great to have. The breakfast was first rate and the hotel staff was very nice. I am a non-smoker, so the room was a bit "musty" smelling. I can tell that the rooms used to be smoking rooms at one point. Overall, I was very pleased with my stay. The location was key! Walking distance to everything.

On the Water
First, the hotel restaurant is VERY expensive (we paid $40 for two bowls of soup). Loved Bergen. Don't let the rain stop you. A great small city for walking. The neighborhood up the hill from the hotel has great views out over the city and the water.Good coffee shop and snacks in the Fish Market at the head of the harbor. Free use of computer (internet)near check in desk.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
Fish Market during the week has many selections for eating (or snacking) sold from booths and tents.Prices for woolens are high. If going north, wait for Tromso.

Traumhafte Lage im Zentrum
Keine Deutschkenntnisse. Frühstück gut, aber die Preise im Restaurant sind extrem hoch bei bescheidenem Angebot. Der Blick aus dem Restaurant am Abend ist überwältigend schön.
