A quiet location
The hotel, the size of the rooms, and even the beds were smaller than expected. However, they quickly put us in another room with larger beds. There is no restaurant in the hotel. Although close to other hotels and a major mall, the hotel is located on a dead end street. The only exit from there, if walking, required passing thru a short dark area without street lights. Usually took taxis for shopping and eating out. Taxis arrived very promptly. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the room and the service from the staff. We visited the National Museum, El Malecon, and the National Carheral.

Hotel Aloha
The room was very clean and well serviced. Having stayed at the other brand name hotels in the area, this is an outstanding value. Great location off the main street. Safe quiet neighborhood, staff was excellent. You get your money's worth.

Surprising little hotel
Great find for a hotel located near MetroCentro (downtown). It is as safe here as anywhere. You can ask the hotel staff for recommendations and they will honestly tell you (for example, "Is it safe for me to walk to the mall at night?" Precautions are prudent wherever you travel. It is a small comfortable location in a quiet area.

Great find
We used the Aloha at twice. It is well located, comfortable and quiet and offers a very good breakfast. There are very good restaurants within safe walking distance. The wonderful staff was friendly, helpful and thoughtful.

Ripped-off Gringo
Clean, comfortable, and banditos
The hotel is centrally located to the MetroCentro. That's the downtown of Managua. It's a two minute walk to the Intercontinental Hotel, the mall, and lots of restaurants and nightclubs. It is clean, quiet, and friendly with a free breakfast every morning. The food in Nicaragua is very good and reasonably priced. Lake Nicaragua is beautiful and a must see. However, everyone has their hand out and overcharge for all services outside the hotels and gringo safe restaurants. $14 for three Tonas and a bag of potato chips at the Managua airport bar? $40 for a slow one hour trip around the lake's small islands? $4 for a taxi to go 50 meters from my hotel to the nightclub (I didn't know it was that close)? No safe in my room? Thank God they didn't take my Costa Rican colones (I actually had more in colones than dollars but Colones are like Kryponite to Nicos). Overall, one of the worst trips of my life, and that includes the four hour wait on the runway at JFK during a blizzard. There's no reason for me to have to hit the ATM three times in four days. It would appear to me that, like the Clash song "Safe European Home" "I went to the place where every white face is an invitation to robbery." Being a gringo outside of the "safe" MetroCentro is just plain trouble.

Don't leave cash laying around and bring as little as possible when doing the tourist thing. Get prices up front and haggle as much as possible.
