great value WiFi

Very happy with this motel one I would recommend but missed not having a toaster in the room when departing early to catch train. Room service handy for dinner when you are tired.

Excellent location

Good for walking to most locations in Wellington. Nicely appointed rooms with comfortable beds. The cons are king rooms are small without enough room to do stretches, and view was of other buildings with views. AND shame on Wellington for canceling the New Years Eve celebration. I felt like I was in the only city in the WORLD without fireworks!

Small - not very friendly

The room was tiny. I was not expecting anything fancy but it was SO small and the staff were not very friendly. It was ok value for money compared to other places I had looked at. Good location for where we wanted to go.

Exactly what we needed

The hotel was perfectly located with easy access to the centre of town via a lift. The room we had was quiet and very clean and spacious. It had been refurbished and had all we needed. The view was not great (rooftops) but we were able to open the windows which was good. Thanks very much for providing great value accommodation (deal) and to the staff for being very accommodating. My only suggestion is that as it was pouring with rain, we did get wet and access to a washing machine and drier would have been nice.

good location

I liked the location of the hotel. You can walk most any where in the city in 15 to 20 minutes. Find the I-site travel center in the civic center building, they have all the info you would ever need to site see in New Zealand. They will even help you book your excursions.

Pleasant surprise. Staff need to cheer up though!

We were really happy with our stay here. Descent size room on 16th floor. A little noise from the streets since it was Saturday night but not really a bother. Room was clean and well equipped. Staff look like they hate their jobs! Hard to get a smile out of anyone except the friendly cleaners.

Central location, great staff

I stayed at Wellington Travelodge in the week between Christmas 2011 and New Year, so rates were very cheap at this business- and government-oriented hotel. Greatest thing about this hotel is that it is on the hill above the harbour, but there is elevator access directly from rooms to Lambton Quay, one if the city's main boulevards. Harbour view is fabulous; staff very accommodating. Wi-fi access is expensive at NZ$30/day (about US$23) but there are coin-op PCs in the lobby for NZ$6/hr AND from some rooms you can get the city's free CBD wireless. Recommended, especially if you can get a good rate in the off-season.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Enjoy great coffees at any of the Wellington-owned cafes on Plimmer Steps and along Lambton Quay. No need to go to Starbucks - taste the local brews.
