For a $400/nt hotel I was surprised at the very small room, no turndown service, only instant coffee in the room, and a very old tube TV.

I really enjoyed my stay here.
I really enjoyed my stay here. I arrived into Wellington early and was at hotel by 10am. I was allowed to go straight to my room. The staff were lovely. I wasn't well my final night and it was no trouble for a late check out 1pm either. I felt very comfortable at this hotel. Well done Rydges!

Innercity Wellington hotel-nice surprise
This is an extraordinary Holiday Inn. We were first pleased by the location as it is just one block from the train station where the ferry shuttle drops off. It is also very convenient to Wellington's terrific wharf area for eating and enjoying the waterfront as well as the cable car, botanic garden, shopping, and museums. Our room had a view of the harbor with a very comfortable bed, handy kitchen area, and luxury bathroom.

Sightseeing tip:
Short walk from hotel
Walk to the cable car (by McDonald's on Lambton Quay) and take it to the Wellington Botanic Gardens. This ia a vast, gorgeous park over a 100 years old and full of twists, turns, and hills with hydrangeas, roses, and venerable trees.

(You might not like this) I would not go through ORBITZ to book any Hotel again because we were given the cost in NZ$ and we were debited in US$. It would be helpful to other users to show the small print with this imformation in a more prominent way.

Relatively new hotel, with cor
Relatively new hotel, with corresponding facilities to be expected. Excellent touches such as complimentary lap top with wireless broadband for 20 min per day. Restaurant called Plate, was the outstanding feature, with a broad menu and unbelievable quality of food presented. Service of a very high standard. This was the highest quality hotel I've stayed in of all the Holiday Inns' I've used in Australasia. Just be aware of very noisy housekeeping staff if you wish to sleep in after 0730.

Nice location, friendly reception
Nice location, friendly reception staff and beautiful decor. But a glass wall between bed and bathroom. I do not want to lie in bed and see my partner do their business. There was no curtain - the twin rooms have a curtain you can pull down - but the king room does not have this. Offputting. Not a great shower. Also the shower is over the bath but no hand rail - slippery and awkward for those of us less nimble. For this reason I would not go back - which is a shame as otherwise a nice place in a nice location with nice staff.
