Wonderful location in exciting city!

Clean and comfy hotel near Te Papa museum (spectacular!) and Wellington waterfront. Older hotel, could use some upgrading of facilities, but clean and a good staff and overall an excellent stay there. Wellington is a most fascinating and delightful city (a mini-San Francisco in many fun ways), with a beautiful harbour and waterfront and much to explore and enjoy. Excellent and varied restaurants abound, and the hotel is well sited for all that. And be sure to spend time at Te Papa!

Very Comfortable

The room was extremely clean. There is a lot of road noise, but I guess that comes from staying in the middle of the city. It was exactly where I needed to stay. There was ample parking (important) and though I had to pay extra for this, I was able to keep my car there for most of the next day.

Not 4 stars

We picked the hotel at the last minute because it was unbelievably cheap and had more than 4 stars. How it got 4 stars, one will never know. The room smelled as bad as any bad smelling room can smell...old and bad. The beds were ancient and springy. The staff was fine and helpful....certainly the day staff was nicer....but the woman at the night desk was fine. Not to say that the hotel was without merits...I got a last second room for $74 which is silly low for the location...but as you can see from my review, there is a reason for that.

Central, harbour views, cheap and cheery.

Surprisingly quiet. Rooms; smallish and dated, basic but very clean; comfortable beds with perfect amount of linen. Staff; exemplary, helpful and friendly. Overnight stay which suited perfectly $$$wise and proximity to Courtenay Place, cafes and nightlife, as well as bus route.

Convenient

A pretty basic hotel but very convenient within easy walking distance to town and the waterfront. Free parking on streets during the weekend is a bonus in Wellington

Perfect Location, but backpacker quality! This hotel experience ruined my dream trip to welly

The location was perfect, just a few metres from supermarket, te papa and most of the city centre. The room was too small and there was no ventilation once or ever, I didnt sleep for two days as the air con was too hot and there was no air circulating around the room, the windows were crying with condensation, so i had to leave them ajar, while it was very windy and freezing cold outside. it was nothing like what I had seen in the photos through their website. it was truly a private backpacker-quality room, with old fashion style furniture, no air and rusting away electronic equipments. The bathroom, which I had requested with a bath, was a big joke, around 1m long and very very old fashion. I was so annoyed with the room that I cancelled my well planned trip 24 hrs earlier and organized my return to Auckland. the hotel was that bad and I wasnt willing to spend more money to change hotels in the last minute. The girls at the desk were supperb though, excellent service, friendly and welcoming. My guess is that whoever runs or owns this hotel is using the frozen in time rooms as a good cash cow, as they are not cheap for the service they offer. Ive never stayed anywhere so bad and next time I will make sure the hotel is at least 3-4 stars. Mr manager, please check the worst aspects: 1. plastic jug was very stained and rusted on the inside, and there was no power next to the mini kitchen so i had to wonder around the room with the jug full of hot water. 2. there is no circulating air in the rooms and the windows cry at night raising health concerns. 3. Air conditioning is very noisy and too powerful for such small space, there should be switches handy in the room to turn it on or off. 3, im a petite person and i could barely move in the shower, curtain was a big no no too and water was going from hot to cold intermitently. 4. Room needs upgrade, it is truly backpacker quality. had i known what i was heading to, i would have gone accross the road and joined my fella travellers. thanks and hope this would be a wake up call to the managers of this hotel. I wouldnt recommend this to anyone unless that is what you are used to.

Great location

The location of this hotel suited us. Being close to the waterfront made for pleasant morning walks and it is close enough to town to walk if you need to go their. Supermarket across the street. For weekend stays parking on the street outside is free and there is something available if you don't mind a short walk
