Duxton Hotel, Wellington

We stayed three nights in September 2010. The hotel was comfortable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. It was well situated, close to the harbor waterfront and Te Papa Museum. There are many good restaurants within a short walk from the hotel. Overall, our stay was a pleasant one and we would stay there again. Don't miss Te Papa Museum. Also, Zealandia is a rare treat and the tour of Parliament is very interesting.

OK but not worth money

The location is great but this did not feel like 4 or 5 star hotel. Rooms and decor is old and tired. TVs are tiny, and rooms are small (we stayed in club room). Staff were friendly overall if you exclude the managers. Also no parking is available at the hotel as part of the price - which was not made clear before booking. Though parking is generally an issue in Wellington
