Loved the hotel and Taupo

We were very pleased with our room which was large, furnished in modern style and very clean. After our long drive it was so refreshing to swim in the the large pool and then warm up in the hot tub. We then finished our evening with a delicious dinner at the hotel's restaurant that was visited not only by hotel guests but by the town's people as well. My husband had the greatest sleep in the hotel bed but I found the pillow too hard to sleep. (That explains my rating of 4 for comfort). I wish there would have been some choices of pillows.

Hilton Lake Taupo - New Zealand Feb 2010

My husband and I stayed her two nights, and we felt very comfortable here. The staff was very friendly and the room was amazing. I really liked the walk in shower and the decor of the bathroom was very nice. This was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Thanks!

There are a lot of nice restaurants in downtown Lake Taupo. We enjoyed a little restaurant on the corner by the city park. Great views of the lake.

Very nice hotel

The hotel is located 10 minutes max from the airport and has nice views of the lake. Our room, which was described as having two twin beds (that's all they had available at the time of booking) were pushed together to form one large king sized bed which was greatly appreciated. It was quite comfortable and there were plenty of pillows. The room was large with floor to ceiling windows and a huge sliding glass door to the covered patio. We shared a nice veranda with the rest of the floor, but each unit has a modern 7 person outdoor table/chair set so you can enjoy a drink in the shade while looking out at the lake. There is a large wardrobe with regular hangers and two bathrobes and slippers. The iron and board were in great shape and the refrigerator was large by hotel standards and fully stocked. There was even a stuffed kiwi doll for purchase as part of the mini bar. The bathroom had two sinks (very very nice feature!), a large bathtub and a spotless glass shower. The towels hung on a warming bar and while you might think this is overkill during the summer, the mornings were cool so a warm towel was appreciated. The blowdryer was a stand alone unit and much better than the built in ones. The pool is large and heated and there's a open air jacuzzi next to the pool. The work out area overlooks the pool and while we didn't use the equipment, we saw an assortment of machines and weights. There were lots of towels and lots of lounges. Our only complaint (and it is quite minor) relates to our particular location (bldg 3). After you enter the bldg, you have to key in three more times to get into your own room. We appreciate the security, but they should remove at least two of the doors to make it easier to navigate with suitcases and bags. The place was clean and crisp and the staff friendly and helpful. Try the bungee jumping and skydiving and the river jet tours and don't forget the sunscreen!

Dining tip: In Hotel

We were told that the restaurant on site (the name escapes me) was highly recommended and we couldn't have agreed more. I had the grouper and my husband had the lamb and both agreed it was not only delicious, but good value for the price.

Brand spankin' new

Got a very cheap rate (under $200 USD) for early Summer (first few days of December). Rooms we quite large and very comfortable if not a bit minimalist/bare in terms of furnishings. I think this wing is designed to be sold as timeshare / managed apartments / hotel rooms w/ adjoining suites. We had to go through almost an airlock system (three sets of inner doors) to get to our particluar room. Very nice restaruant (but be prepared to shell out some $) and excellent fitness center. It is in a separate building overlooking the heated infinity pool/spa and has a sauna, steam room and shower/changing rooms. View was nice of the lake, but there is still some clamber below that is detracts a bit. They need to invest in some shrubs.
