A nice country hotel. The local area is world famous for gliding with records regularly set. Many very beautiful glacial lakes and the Mount cook national park in close proximity to the hotel. This is the land of outdoor adventure activities. Or a convenient place to stop and break the tour journey. SE0109 This is a modern low rise building, originally built in the mid 1970's but extensively refurbished in the year 2000. The township of Omarama is located on the main state highway 8. Approximately 166km (2 hours drive) from Queenstown, and approximately 280 kms (4 hours drive) from Christchurch.

The rooms are tidy and in good condition. The majority of the bathrooms have shower over bathtub. there are a small number of disabled access rooms. Many of the rooms have excellent views over the local countryside. Tea and coffee facilities in the rooms are standard. Hairdryers are available at reception.

A bit older place, but didn't

A bit older place, but didn't dislike it, just was on the lower end of the scale from what we had been staying at throught New Zealand. Friendly staff. Worn carpet, but kind of added to the ambieance.

A comfortable hotel in a great

A comfortable hotel in a great 'gateway' location for Otago and MacKenzie Countries. The mattresses were unbearably soft though, and my husband and I had to use both beds in the room rather than share one - it was impossible to lie on the same bed without rolling in to each other! The staff were exceptionally friendly, the chef very good with a fabulous buffet. Location Location Location!!
