Rydges Hotel - Auckland, NZ
This hotel was in a great location in the center of the City with easy access to all attractions. Very clean and nice rooms. I would stay there again.

We found the room in the hotel
We found the room in the hotel clean. However, there were stains on the carpet in the hallway near the elevators. There could have been a top up of our coffee sachet's for our room. Our room had no view, and was noisy on the Saturday night that we were there. When departing, we found it difficult to get out of our room with the cleaning trolley parked right outside. The concierge staff were most helpful.

Check in was average a smile would
Check in was average a smile would have been nice. We asked for a high floor but apparantly no upgrades were available. Not sure but I think in view of the Christchurch disaster some hotels may think a high flloor is now a downgrade Anyway it was an abrupt reply without thought. The room was modern and clean and represented excellent value for a city centre hotel in a good location to access the sights by foot. We returned the hire car as soon as we arrived in the city as it was easy to use foot, ferries and the local train to get around. We would stay here again, might even get that smile!

Location close to city, although
Location close to city, although in a quiet one way street surrounded by car parks - a bit too quiet when coming back in the dark at night. Also close to Sky City casino and very convenient for bus stops 1 minute walk away - useful as it is a hilly area. About 5 mins walk to harbour area, downhill. Superior room was large, and exceptionally quiet - only grumble was some rubbish left on the floor in the wardrobe. Glimpses of the harbour from the window on level 7. Very helpful desk staff. Would stay again.
