Excellent value

The hotel is in a superb location for exploring Auckland. Our room was very large and is the only hotel that we have ever stayed at that had a washer, dryer, and dishwasher in the room. No extra charge. We had a superb view of the harbor and a balcony. The staff was especially helpful with all of our requests. Bedding was comfortable. Nice large bathroom.

Skip the expensive on/off bus. There is a free bus to the Auckland museum from the SkyCity hotel.

Great Experience

I had a very good experience at the Heritage Auckland. The New Zealand rugby players were staying there as well and there was quite a festive, busy atmosphere in the lobby lounge the day I arrived which was the day after their victory. The staff was very helpful and the dinner I had in the restaurant was excellent (garden salad and scallop entree). I also had room service for a dinner that was also very good (beef fillet). I was given a 2 bedroom room which was very spacious. The decor was not my taste, but it was simple and clean. the location was great for walking to Queens Road, the main street for shops and cafes, and the Quay area.

Time-saving tip: Not Applicable

Check out the Link bus system to get around to some of the main attractions, but make a note of where the bus stops are ahead of time, because they are hard to find just walking around.

Great Find

This was the last night of a three week trip thru New Zealand. If this had been the first night all other accommodations would have paled in comparison. We were upgraded to a suite: balcony with great harbour views, sitting area with sofabed; tv's in sitting area and bedroom; kitchenette with full sized fridge, drawer dishwasher, oven and microwave; bathroom with separate shower and...washer/dryer. We had booked a twin room but with the upgrade the bed was a non-convertable queenbed. The staff were quick to make up the sofabed for us. Great location: one block to the Sky Tower, four blocks to the wharf area or Queen's Street shopping. Free WiFi or internet access would have completed the package but we had to pay $5 for 30 minutes...

Third time I stayed here, (2nd

Third time I stayed here, (2nd time in Tower Block), overall service has improved but still not 100% for this kind of Hotel. Airconditioning not that great so had to have balcony doors open to cool room overnight, but room was ok apart from stained carpeting. Overall average I would say.

Apart from getting my name wrong

Apart from getting my name wrong for the booking which I don’t think was their fault these guys rock. I was upgraded to Directors Suite which was on the penthouse level. Amazing views, superb accommodation, a breakfast to die for and great service. Highly recommended

Staff not at all welcoming, hotel

Staff not at all welcoming, hotel part is like a maze and hard to find your way around. Lifts need swipe card to operate which is a complete pain and after all that you get a really good view of the carpark from the window. The room i was in had marked walls and chipped paintbut was clean. The prices for room service and mini bar are overly expensive and although you leave you breakfast request on the doorknob well before time, its never collected, (this has happened to me twice).
