Base Auckland backpacker hostel is New Zealand's most famous hostel located right in the heart of the city - central to shops, cafes, museums and only a couple of minutes walk to train, bus and ferry terminals. The airport bus (Airbus) stops right outside the door! This quality hostel offers comfy beds in a clean, modern and secure environment ranging from en-suite doubles to small and large shared dorms. There is also a Sanctuary wing for girls only. Great for individuals and groups! When it comes to socializing, the hostel cant be beaten, with nightly entertainment on offer! Start the night off at the Balcony Bar (seasonal) on the 6th floor of Base Auckland, and then join the travellers down at New Zealands biggest party bar, the famous Globe Bar. What are you waiting for? Features: 24 hour reception and security All rooms have fridge and under-bed lockers. Fully made up beds with hotel quality linen rooms, Under bed lockers in multi-share rooms. BASE Sanctuary wing, rooms for girls only. Two SKY TV lounges, Chill out lounge area Free local activities and BBQs, Modern kitchen, dining and laundry facilities. Global Gossip high speed wireless Internet cafe. All sanctuary guests are provided with towels, a sanctuary pack of Shampoo/Conditioner and moisturiser and a complimentary glass of champagne. NO boys allowed. Decent room, but theft issues

A friend and I stayed at the Base Auckland hostel for three nights. We had our own twin ensuite. The room was pretty nice for a hostel. Beds were a little older, but ok. It was nice to have our own mini fridge. Unfortunately, we did have theft issues. Someone stole my friend's iPhone, and also my entire carry on suitcase. What a terrible way to end our vacation. The staff did apologize and ultimately refunded our stay; however, the contents of my suitcase were worth much more monetarily and sentimentally. The hostel did have flyers that a thief was operating in the hostel, and to secure your valuables, but I would never have imagined them stealing an entire suitcase. So disappointing. Other than that major issue, accommodation was ok. Elevators are old and didn't always work right. One girl got stuck while we were there.

just required a bed and private bathroom facilities excellent location great price was clean and quiet safe and grateful to reception to have parked car overnight right outside the base removed early morning
