Great accomodations USELESS front desk
This is an excellent, family friendly location/accomodations with PERFECT beach and pool options for kids. We met many Dutch families and really enjoyed our vacation. HOWEVER, the front desk and staff at Hemmingways were HORRIBLE!!! The front desk provides little to NO information on transportation options other than renting a car from their provider or taking a cab, which I would not recommend because of the prices. We asked about activities and received no helpful details. They essentially want to make it difficult for you to spend money anywhere else other than their hotel. ASK FOR THE DUTCH BINDER OF ACTIVITIES for some suggestions. This is given to all the Dutch families that book travel through a Dutch agent. They do not offer these to US/Others even if you ask for suggestions of things to do. A dutch couple shared theirs with us and then I went to the front desk to ask for one. The dive shop is excellent but not family friendly i.e. we wanted to split a 2 tank dive so 1 of us could stay on the boat with our 18mo old (who has been on many boats). They would not allow us to do this without charging us both full price. We also hear the same complaint from another couple...."such a family friendly resort with an "adult only" dive shop. The dive shop staff were EXCELLENT, knowledgeable, friendly etc. We discovered a free shuttle 566-1100 but you need to make reservations. Walk or take the "locals bus" to Punda (30min) and the grocery store (15-20) instead of taking a cab for $10-20 US dollars...Punda is less than 3-4 miles away. Research restaurants outside of the resort or ask employees of other businesses where to go (or go to Nemos and Piazza, which were excellent and poolside but not always open in Nov). Rent a car and explore the island for 1-2 days is worth it. We found an AMAZING beach called Abu up on the other side of the island. BRING YOUR OWN BEACH TOWELS as they charge a daily fee to use theirs. DO NOT charge meals to the room as we were warned by other couples staying there that they were not always accurate. I would stay here again but I would rent a car and tanks and do my own diving using the very helpful maps of dive sites. There is a ton of great shore dives. I would have done more research on where to go before I went given how unhelpful, but friendly the frontdesk is.

see above. Explore options before you leave as the front desk is useless!!! Rent a car and tanks/gear and just drive around to do most of the dives, which can be reached from the shore.

Primarily a rest and scuba dive vacation. Dive facility and staff were great and so were the dives. Nemo's restaurant was great - good food/service. Hemingways's restaurant food was poor and service was terrible. Overall, facility and hotel service were pretty good and staff friendly. Would visit again with the right "package".

Don't expect much nightlife here. Not the purpose of this resort. Rest, relaxation are the primary events here. Although resort is next to the touristy sea aquarium, which is great for kids and others.

Absolutely the BEST resort on Curacao!
We ALWAYS choose the Lion's Dive for our stay in Curacao. We feel is by far the BEST resort on the Island and it's expansion over the years has not detracted from it's appeal at all. New apartments & suites, gorgeous swimming pools, new restaurant, new large shuttle bus all make the stay there the best! The Dive facility offers several trips for both scuba and snorkeling as well as full certification courses. The free shuttle runs twice a day into Willemstad...famous for it's colorful buildings along the canal and pontoon bridge. The on site restaurants offer a variety of foods from a casual lunch at "Hemingways" to first class dinner and wines at "Nemos" all at reasonable prices. Several languages are spoken by the staff making you feel right at home. The Lion's Dive if most definitely "The Natural Place To Stay"

A short walk along the beach will bring you to several spots with movies on the beach and outdoor clubs with music and dancing. A Cuban night at Hemingways Restaurant offer a buffet with fabulous live music.

Best Vacation Ever!
Amazing vacation, with tons to do! The hotel was in a perfect location with a beautiful private beach and tons of excursions located on the property. We snorkeled, took a sunset boat cruise of the island, did an ATV tour of the island (highly recommend!!), visited the sea aquarium and much more. The restaurants nearby were excellent. The rooms had a great kitchen and a fantastic wrap around patio/balcony that could fully open up to the living room to create a giant outdoor living space. The bedrooms were nicely airconditioned. All the service staff spoke english, although the resort was definitely catered more toward Europeans. I would recommend the Lion's Dive Hotel to anybody wanting a relaxing, adventure filled beach vacation!

Great beach and beautiful surroundings
This hotel has a great beach and a breakwater makes for calm waters and great swimming. No need to use the hotel swimming pool as the beach is a giant pool. The snorkeling was disappointing as the water was not that clear and the number of fish limited. The rooms were OK, quiet and had nice balconies and good views. We took a standard room and could still see the ocean, The staff were polite and helpful enough but I didn't get a really warm, friendly feeling. They just seemed to be doing their job and being efficient. What I did not like about this hotel was having to pay $12 for 24 hours of internet access. Local phone calls were $4. We brought our own beach towels. if you used theirs a $25 deposit was required. The restaurant possibilities nearby are limited. We ate at Hemingway one night and gave the food a mixed rating. My daughter said the vegetable pasta was delicious while my fish sandwich was made from what looked like reconstituted fish and was not very tasty. However the atmosphere and surroundings can't be beat. The buffet breakfast at Hemingway is just passable. Go for the fruit and yogurt and avoid the scrambled eggs and you'll do fine. Also watch out for the pigeons - they are very tenacious and will descend on your table the moment you get up for a coffee refill. That's just a word of caution by the way, not a criticism. Overall I would recommend this hotel, especially if you have your own car, but I probably won't go back because I've had better value for money.

Lions Dive and Beach Resort
We loved the hotel, its friendly service, a great place to be, right at the ocean, found everything extremely well taken care of, the rooms perfect. We would book back there in a heart beat. Can definately recommend this place as the island people are amongst the friendliest we met in the Carribbean.
