The Hotel is confortable and clean, the food is good but way too expensive. Good for relax a couple of days, but if you want some excitment you will need to rent a car and go downtown. The frech part is the best.

Excellent hotel
We stayed at the Westin in March of 2012. It was very a very clean and comfortable place to stay. They pool and beach are beautiful. If you stay here you must get a car to enjoy some of highlights of the island; grand case, marigot, etc. There is free parking at the hotel. The hotel really impressed us by welcoming us with a bottle of champagne and strawberries because we were in St Martin on a honeymoon. Getting to the hotel was difficult with very poor signage but once at the hotel we were given excellent written directions by the concierge to get to all the major destinations on the island - i highly recommend you get these printed up instructions from the front desk. The food on St Martin is amazing and the Westin has decent meals but they are definitely subpar compared with the rest of the restaurants on this island. Have one meal at most here and make sure to check out culinary perfection at places like Le Pressior in Grand case. Mamas pizza near the hotel was very good too. A fun day trip from the island was to visit Anguilla which was pricey but worth it in that you will see the most amazing beach. We also enjoyed a day out on the Random Wind sailboat.

Visit Anguila which is a ferry boat from Marigot - one of the most beautiful beaches you will ever see. Remember to bring your passport - Anguilla is British.

Either Orbiz or the Westin lied about the "ocean view"
Having paid extra money for an "ocean view" and getting an "under construction building" instead set a bad tone from the beginning. The staff told us that they have "ocean views" and "ocean fronts" - to which the later wasnt an option for us on the website. So I think anyone would naturally anticipate that our room would face the ocean when buying an "ocean front". They didnt budge with us at all and rudely told me that what I have is satisfactory. In general the staff there was less than friendly the whole time (which is not what I expect from a Westin). Most of them seemed like it was an annoyance to be at their work and to help anyone. The power went out for a couple hours and the hallways had no backup lights so we were stranded in our room. Everything was way too expensive (The Dutch side of the island is supposed to be less expensive and yet we were paying an average of $40/breakfast and $100/dinner). And quite honestly there was just nothing to do at this particular location.

fantastic hotel made this trip even better
We have absolutely no complaints about this hotel. It's gorgeous! The room was beautiful, the pool and beach were amazing, the staff was friendly. We had a great vacation and it wouldn't have been nearly as good if we had stayed somewhere else.

Go to Busby's at Oyster Bay. The grouper sandwich and pizza were the best meal we had on the island--fresh and delicious!

Excellent resort
Excellent place to stay. Not the most centrally located, but anyone visiting the island should rent a car and if you have a car it's fine. The hotel itself is great. Awesome pool area, fantastic rooms. Clean and spotless. Great restaurant and facilities. I wasn't crazy about the beach itself, but there are plenty of nice ones a short drive away. I would definitely stay here again on future visits to the island. Oh, one other thing. The employees were hit or miss. Some were fantastic, others seemed unhappy to be there.

Nice resort
Great beach, great pool, great bar between the pool and beach. Swimming there is good, but the water was always too rough with a strong current and wind, so snorkeling was not good. We ate at the Aura restaurant one night, and the food was very good, but we maybe expected more because of the prices. We ate at the Oceans restaurant twice, and they overcooked the fish both times. The flavor combinations were quite good, however. Pushy salespeople who frequently accosted us, trying to get us to check out the Dawn Beach Club, were a significant negative. Still, this hotel is a good place to relax on a beautiful beach.

Loved the island, hotel was average
The hotel is located far away from the airport - 45 minutes to an hour, far away from night life in Maho bay and far from pelican marina where most of the snorkel and dive cruises leave from. You can rent a car for about $30 a day or you can take cabs, but many places you would likely want to go are about a $30 trip each way. The hotel is not all-inclusive and meals are very expensive. The island however was amazing and this is definitely my favorite place in the Caribbean so far. Aside from the location and price point, this is a great hotel - very safe, gorgeous beach, great food.

Honeymoon trip
Nice hotel and we went during low season (October). Very nice beach and pool. The casino was closed most of the time and with little action when it was opened. They need to have night time entertainment. Had to pay for umbrellas for the beach (called bubbles) which should come with the hotel. The free parking was nice. We could not get a consistent answer on the ferry times from the marinas offsite to other islands, which we missed one day but spent it in Phillisburg. We did make it to St. Barths on a day trip which was nice.

All of the night entertaimment was in Maho Bay and restaurants in Simpson Bay. We had a car so went most nights but roads at night were a concern. Highly recommend Big Fish near by but stay away from Captain Olivers. Mr. Busby's beach bar was cool.
