Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Short walk to center of Marigot. No need for a rental car as traffic and parking horrendous. Taxis are the way to go.

On the Beach

This is a classic French style beach hotel. The staff are personable and attentive. The location is beautiful. It does need to continue updating and renewing its rooms and public areas, but I would stay here again. If you need everything perfect, you may not enjoy this hotel. BUT, if you want a great place with a friendly vibe on the ocean, this is the place!

9 times the same hotel

we are very happy with the hotel, with the staff, with the location and special with our room, because we had every year the same room. the only negative point is, the hotel is sold and we don't know who is the new owner and how does the hotel look like after the renovation and how expensive are the rating next year.

Awful

The hotel did not have our reservations. We were given the last two rooms as they were booked due to conference and St. Maarten Day. Although we paid for two rooms one was supposed to be ocean front. After traveling for 12 hrs we took what was available. After all, we were at their mercy being in the isolated location. The hotel was clean but furnished with 1960 furniture and smelled musty. Front desk staff had an indifferent attitude. We do not feel as though the price was fair given the accommodations. Moreover, we will not use the Internet side again as accommodations were not available as promised and confirmed.

His hotel was selected as their photo showed our Clipper ship in the background. The hotel is located on the French side of the island. All cruise sips leave on the Dutch side of the island.

Ok, not great...

The rooms were very nicely furnished, and were relatively clean. Breakfast was included and was excellent, having just about anything available that you could want to eat for breakfast. The outside of the hotel was beginning to look a little run down and ready for a renovation. The rooms were cleaned everyday, but not particularly thoroughly. The beach was not very good. In the water there were a few rocks, and quite a bit of seaweed (we only went swimming on the hotel beach once). I would strongly recommend travelling to other beaches around the island instead. The pool was a little small and nothing special, but we didn't spend a lot of time in the pool either. Overall, the hotel was not luxurious, but was comfortable. I would recommend it to families and people travelling on a budget, but would not recommend it for honeymooners.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Marigot was very quiet at night, but seemed to have a lot going on during the day. We went to a restaurant called Oplongeoir, which you will probably want to drive to. Also, despite the great hotel breakfast, we walked to Sarafina's in Marigot for a breakfast crepe, which was excellent.

Good Value/Lovely Location

Good. The location was on a beautiful bay in Marigot, a nice French Caribbean village. It was all the basic comforts one would expect, clean and airy. We were on the street side of the hotel which was a little noisy. We opened the doors and let the sea breeze blow through which we preferred to the air conditioner. It's all about being on the island, so if that's where you want to be you would be happy to pay regular rates. It was very good at the [...] rate but we wouldn't pay full price. The hotel restaurant was not good and overcharged in US dollars from Euros but just a few blocks away on the marina boardwalk are great cafes with stunningly good French/Caribbean food at reasonable prices.
