Beachfront hotel in French St. Martin
More like staying at a friend's apartment than going to a big-name resort, the Grand Case Beach Club is located right on the beach in the French side of St. Martin. Backed by a steep green hill and surrounded by lush gardens, the bougainvillea-draped resort appeals to adults seeking home-away-from-home comfort with easy access to the beach and water sports. The hotel is also within easy walking distance to the village of Grand Case, known for its excellent selection of French restaurants. The intimate three-story resort features only 70 rooms, all larger than the typical hotel room.
Highlights
- Beachfront location with the comforts of home
- Walking distance to the fine dining in the village of Grand Case
- Complimentary bottle of wine
- Complimentary continental breakfast
Rooms
The 70 rooms vary in size, from an oceanfront studio with a loft to a two-bedroom oceanfront suite. All of the rooms come with a balcony or patio, a fully equipped kitchen with a four-burner stove, a microwave, a refrigerator, and bathrooms with shower and tub. A combination CD/cassette player and radio is also available. Children 12 and under stay free when sharing a one- or two-bedroom unit with parents.
Features
The Sunset Cafe provides a complimentary continental breakfast. This being the French side of St. Martin, expect buttery croissants, warm baguettes, real butter, and strong coffee. Hot breakfast items are also available for an additional price.
Sea kayaks and sunfish are complimentary at Petit Plage, the small, sleepy beach where guests spend most of their time. Other outdoor activities include snorkeling, windsurfing, water-skiing, tennis, or simply lounging on the beach with a good book. The tennis court is lit for night play.
Day trips can be taken by boat or plane to the nearby islands of Anguilla, which can be seen from the hotel. The hotel offers two-hour excursions to nearby Creole Rock for some of the island's best snorkeling. The trip includes a guide and snorkeling gear.

Sun, sand and food
If you enjoy great food, Grand Case and Grand Case Beach Club is the place to be. All the restaurants are at walking distance and most of them are outstanding (although not cheap). Try to spend Tuesday night in Grand Case: you will enjoy music, food and shopping. The staff of the hotel, activity desk and sunset bar / restaurant is very friendly and perfectly bilingual; you will make you feel welcome and special. Note that a car is convenient if you want to visit the island but beware of traffic jams.

new years on the island
Safe hotel in good location close to many restaurants on the blvd. Small pool and minimal beach. Breakfast at Sunset cafe pricey for value received. Nice manager's reception party. Little to do on the property, especially at night.

Seek out those places where dollar and euro are one for one. A car is really indicated, as walking is rather dangerous on the narrow streets.

Caribbean Christmas Break
Grand Case Beach Club is in a perfect location on the French side of St. Martin. Most of the island is run down and over developed, but the area around Grand Case is much nicer. It has beautiful beaches with very good snorkeling and is convenient to the town of Grand Case with great restaurants. Only problem were very agressive mosquitos in the room.

La Villa restaurant is excellent and a great value compared to other fine dining in town. The lolos (local restaurants) are also very good. They all accept US$ equivalent to euros.

Grand Case
Very nice place to stay. I stayed there from October 3 to October 8. There was a lot of construction going on during this time because it was the off season time so there was quite a bit noise during the day. Also, there was a recent tropical storm around the island the previous days before I arrived so one side of the beach was surrounded by seaweed; making it not accessible. Other than that the weather was really nice, the staff professional and friendly, and the room was very clean.

Great Romantic Holiday
This was our fifth trip to this hotel and we were very pleased to see that they are working to make it even better with complete room renovations. New flooring, tile, beds and bedding make it really clean and perfect. The property is a gem with private beach and restaurant. There is a great watersports desk run by Sebastian that makes the diving, sailing and snorkeling simple and inexpensive. The restaurants of Grand Case are a short walk away and the hotel rents cars for $19/day so that you can explore the area. Overall just a great base of operations to see everything the French side of the island has to offer.

Spectacular views
We had a great time on our honeymoon, the hotel beaches were beautiful and so was the staff. Word of advise though if you go in September be prepared for many closures, the French go on vacation during that time and many places were closed. We still found many great restraunts to eat at and our Hotel's restraunt was also closed for breakfast, some other guests had a problem with that.

Words cannot express how wonderful GCBC is.
This was our first trip to St Martin. I had done a fair amount of research beforehand and had read great things about the hotel, but I still wasn't totally sure what to expect. It turned out to be the best vacation we've been on thus far, and we cannot wait to return. When we do, there is nowhere else we would rather stay than in beautiful Grand Case with the lovely people of the Grand Case Beach Club. You can tell from the photos that the resort and surrounding area is stunningly beautiful, so I won't spend too much time talking about the scenery.. all I will say is that it's even more incredible in person. The thing that will really make your stay unforgettable, though, is the staff -- Ruth at the front desk, housekeeping, security guards (my primary concern before arrival was safety, but we felt totally safe at all times, even walking at night), the servers at Sunset Cafe -- they were all incredibly kind and helpful. You get the feeling that they really love their jobs. Bottom line: If you're staying in St Martin and you're not at the GCBC, you've made a huge mistake. :)

Wonderful hotel with backyard beach!
This hotel was amazing!!! It was very clean, employees extremely nice, very very safe and secure!!! You needed a key to get in and out so no need to fear a thing!!!! The beach was right in your backyard and the area was constantly kept clean by the maintenance crew!!! The only disappointing thing was complimentary breakfast. My husband and I got three croissants each. There was a menu to order from but you had to pay for it. Not too expensive. We did order twice. Food was excellent. We had breakfast and dinner there. It was fabulous. Everyone was so nice and polite!!!! Definately would recommend it and we would stay there again!!!!

Better Than We Imagined...
The hotel was perfect. It sits right on the beach and within a 5-10 minute walk to countless restaurants (including fine dining, casual, and lolos) and a couple of convenience stores. It is also a 5-10 minute drive from Orient Beach and Baie Rouge and only 15-20 minutes from Marigot. Each room in the hotel has a full kitchen so you can save money by buying beer and groceries and stocking the refrigerator. Go to US Market, which is a five minute drive from hotel for great prices on groceries. The hotel also has a water sports desk so you can book numerous excursions from 1/2 day to full day trips. The water sports staff is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. We will definitely stay at Grand Case Beach Club again. It was better than we could have imagined and had everything that we needed.

Rent a car as taxi fare can add up quickly. You can rent a car with liability insurance for under $200 / week. Driving on the island is no problem at all. Also, if staying on French side, bring cash in both US dollars and Euros. Some restaurants and stores offer 1 US dollar to 1 Euro so it is better to use US dollars in these places. Others do not offer the 1 to 1 ratio so it is better to use the Euro in these other places. On Dutch side, the US dollar is the main currency.
