- The Gelderse Poort is a unique nature reserve near Nijmegen with river dunes, herds of grazing animals, flower-filled meadows and woods where beavers can be found. Infinite enjoyment in unspoilt nature and perfect for cycling trips on any number of attractive cycling paths through this unspoilt area. The Gelderse Poort is also ideal for walking. This beautiful nature reserve was developed together with the World Nature Fund, and continuous supervision ensures that its original characters is preserved. Because of this, you can enjoy walks through the Millingerwaard, Bizonbaai, Klompenwaard and Loowaard, areas in which you can even leave the paths and enter the wild heart of the Gelderse Poort. But you can also relax outside of the Gelderse Poort. With Nijmegen, Arnhem, Germany and various museums and tourist sights so close by, this area is perfect for daytrips.
