Very basic and minimalistic

This hotel is close to various places of interest and easy to get to . From Schipol airport , it is easy to purchase your train ticket from the ticket machine at 4 Euros for Muiderport Station . Take the Hoopdorf train from Platform 3 and within half hour arrive at Muiderport station. From there it is a 10mins walk to the hotel which is nestled between Oosterpark and Tropen Musem. The hotel shares the car park entrance with the museum. The tram No. 9 to Diemen Sniep , from Amsterdam Centraal Station cost 7.50 Euros for 24 hours use and stops just outside the Hotel. We had a 3nights' stay at the hotel. The staff at the reception desk were the only ones who were pleasant and friendly. As our room was not ready , we left our luggage and went across the road for some breakfast and then on an orientation walkabout. Within half an hour we were in Amsterdam Centraal. We got back at 3p.m but our room was still not ready, so had to wait at the bar where we had a hot chocolate at 4.00 euros each. We waited and waited and in the end we had to go across from the bar to find out about our room. We were told it was ready. I was annoyed that no one thought of coming across to let us know as we were sat only a couple of yards away from the Reception desk.we inquired about availability of meals etc. , and were told breakfast is from 7.00 a.m at 19.00euros and it is only continental breakfast and as for meals in the evening were mainly snacks such as cheeseburger and fries or fish , fries and peas starting at 15.00 euros. We chose to have breakfast and all our meals elsewhere much cheaper. On our walk to Amsterdam Centraal , we found a place called Rembrandt Corner , which serves full English breakfast .....great value for money!!! The hotel itself is very basic and compact. We had the view of the treetops of Oosterpark from our room on the third floor and could hear all the noise from people in the park day and night. The double bed was comfortable, there was a wash basin, a small shower opposite and toilet. It was a squeeze while washing at the basin as we kept bumping into the shower enclosure from behind as we bent forward over the basin. The bath towels are small, worn out and dilapidated . My wife and I had to share the bathroom towel on two occasions as we were left with just one towel as we did with the shower gel which came in a 20mls small bottle of which we were provided with just one. Our bed sheets were not changed throughout the duration of our stay. We had one pillow each which were about a foot square. These pillows had seen better days. The TV set was replaced on the second day we were there with a new flat screen TV but could not enjoy watching anything due to poor quality picture and loss of signal numerous times . We gave up watching in the end. Some members of staff walked past in the reception area but avoid eye contact and communication . No one asked us if we enjoyed our stay or if we needed anything . The location is ideal but the customer service is poor as is the quality . Not worth £113.00 a night in our view and certainly does not deserve 3 star rating. We expected better but left with a bitter taste.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

If you like walking and on a limited budget, there are museums and parks within walking distance. Muiderport Station is only a 10 mins walk away. We went from 19th - 22nd June . Weather was unpredictable but still armed with umbrella and a coat, we walked all the way to Amsterdam City central , exploring , sightseeing, going on river cruise , shopping, enjoying culinary delights of various restaurants, while keeping ourselves fit at the same time.

Good time.

A mixed bag. Plus: Very comfortable bed. Room large by Amsterdam standards. Location away from city center, but easy to get to the center by tram or bus, takes maybe 10 minutes to get to all the action. Great reception staff. Minus: Air conditioning not available-room was very hot due to unusually warm weather that week. Hotel is adjacent to a public park-from 1am-3:30am one evening there was a huge and extremely loud dance party going on there. It kept me awake even though I was seven stories up! Therefore ask for a room facing the street-NEVER the park side.

Very nice hotel

This is a very nice hotel. It's location is a little away from the center of town but the tram stops right in front. For 7 Euro you can can a 24 hour pass. From central station get on the number 9 that says Deman and get off at the stop after Alexanderplain. This drops you right in front of the hotel. To get to town jump on the number 9 in front of the hotel that says 'central station'. I got off at 'The Dam' which has the castle and cathedral and close to everything. 10 minute ride. I liked that it was in a quiet location as my colleague stayed 'downtown', overpaid, and said it was very loud...... The people there were very nice and the hotel and room were very clean. I would definitely stay there again

Mainly for business travelers

More geared to business travelers. In a more ethnic neighborhood and not near any nice restaurants.

Stay closer to Centrum for good restaurants and shopping. Also hotel charged me on top of Obitz charges and still trying to straighten it out.

Good for one night but no more

Not centrally located to tourist areas. The walls were very thin and if you are planning to be there over the weekend the restaurant is not open.
