Great hotel for the price
We spent 3 days in Amsterdam before departing on a river cruise. The hotel is centrally located. Beds are very comfortable. Staff very helpful. Included breakfast[...] was definitely a plus. Suggest asking for a room in the back because it is quieter.

" Perfect choice "
The Convent Hotel was everything I expected if not more. It is a 3-4 minute walk from Dam Square and a 5-6 minute walk to central station which brings you directly to and from the airport. Breakfast was included in our package and was very nice, really set you up for the day. The Staff were very plesant and couldnt do enough for you. Although i have said this hotel is for couples, i really believe it would suit everyone. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are a good size. We went to the Van Gogh museum, the House of Bols and the Anne Frank house. We also went on the Canal Cruise (departs in front of Central Station)and the Yellow Bike tour (departs around the corner from the hotel on your right). Both were very enjoyable. The Red light District is situated at the opposite side of Dam Square. It is an experience to see and walk down, and there are a lot of coffee shops that offer brownies etc around there. However, this is not the only thing Amsterdam has to offer, so i would recommend the tours to see what else there is. If i was to ever return to Amsterdam, i would stay in this hotel again, as it is clean, very central and offers good food and service.

Sightseeing tip:
Long walk from hotel
Sure there are plenty of museums and shops but the best attractions can be found in any of the galleries, pastry and chocalate shops in many of the neightborhoods. So you get excercise and walk off a few calories you gain along the way. Looking at the homes along side the canals and people watching is great too!

Excellent hotel!
The hotel was very clean, centrally located, and very accommodating. European hotel rooms are usually small, but we stayed in a 3-person standard room and it was very roomy. The area is extremely safe and we felt very comfortable walking around during the day, late at night and even when we went for a walk at 4am (we had jetlag!)The hotel is a 5 min walk from Central Station so you save money by not needing to take a taxi even when travelling with luggage. The staff was very accommodating - our voltage converter was accidentally broken by the cleaning staff, and they instantly replaced it for our stay and sent us home with a new converter! The hotel offers a "business center" that allows all guests free access to two computers (with free internet) and a printer. This was one of the nicest hotels that I have stayed at and I do a lot of travelling. I would recommend this for family and friend trips.

Historic Hotel
Beautiful old hotel (14th Century Convent) that has been updated inside. Rooms are a bit small, but comfortable & clean. If you are thinking of walking from the train station, and you have heavy luggage or are not used to walking uphill on cobblestones, you may want to consider taking a taxi even though it is close by. We were glad we did.

A wonderful restaurant around the corner for dinner called Humphrey's. (Otherwise, not too great in the restaurant/cafe department. Don't go to the Argentina Steak House down the street. Terrible.)

Great hotel in central location
Amsterdam Convent Hotel is a lovely hotel with very comfortable rooms (spacious for Europe). We loved the location and were able to walk to nearly all the museums and other sites. There is a tram stop across the street for those who prefer to ride. We particularly enjoyed the breakfast buffet (part of our package) and found the staff very friendly and helpful.

If you plan to visit many museums, buy a Holland Museumkaart (check it out online). You can purchase it at several museums in Amsterdam. We got ours at the Amsterdam History Museum.

Will never stay anywhere else
The hotel is close to the train station. Take the train for 4Euros or a taxi like I did for 75 Euros. Close to the red light district and several coffee shops. Walking distance to Van Gogh, Bols (booze), Heinecken, and Anne Frank house. Lots of food options, and the breakfast was included with my rate and it was top notch. This hotel is one block from their shopping street. Everyone speaks perfect English and is not snobish about it like other places in Europe.
