Nice and clean

Nice hotel. Clean rooms, but some of them a tiny. Very good location - within a walking distance from everything but quiete. Staff are helpful. Two issues: 1) super laud people at night. I could not figure out if it was just a noisy group of tourists or employees doing some work at night. 2) Internet connection is very slow, need to pay extra for "high speed" which is not that high either.

Basic but a little smelly

This is really a place where you can only go to sleep. The curtains and the carpet smelled but the bed sheets and bathroom were clean. I would recommend it only if you are on a budget. The location is great though.

Hotel a bit shabby, but still good

This hotel is very well located near the Dam square and also convenient to tram lines and the Central train station. It is clean but a bit shabby. The rooms are large and our bathroom had a tub (heaven!). There is a breakfast room that serves a buffet for 8.5 Euros each and it's pretty good. The rates are cheap for a centrally located hotel. The desk staff is polite and helpful. The down side is that the hotel attracts a younger noisy crowd and we had a lot of door banging, shouting, etc until the wee hours of the morning, or until I called the front desk and asked them to get these kids under control. The other down side is that this part of town is quite filthy. Amsterdam is basically pretty filthy, but this part is even dirtier than most.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

There are many pastry and take-out food places within a short walk of this hotel, on or near the Dam. You could quickly go broke eating in even "cheap" cafes, but bringing food back to the hotel can save a LOT of money.

Great Location

This was our second trip to Amsterdam. This hotel has a great location making all of the major tourist attractions a short walk. The hotel could use a little updating but considering how little time we spent in the room that was a small concern. The staff was great and everyone we encountered spoke English. Our only complaint was the noise. It was not a very quiet hotel. We would stay there again.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

Looking for a quiet Amsterdam style coffee shop? Exit the hotel entrance and go to your left (South) for abot about a block and a half. You will encounter Coffeeshop Magic.

great location

The Rembrandt Classic Hotel complimentary breakfast was very good and a great value if you are hungary in the morning, but the price for a bowl of soup and sandwich was almost shocking... The staff were helpful and considerate. If you're traveling heavy with a lot of luggage, take the hotel shuttle from the airport, if was 16 euro it is worth every euro. Amsterdam is more expensive, it's a tourist town with a lot to offer.

A good stay

We didn't know what to expect for our first time in Amsterdam. The reception was typical of businesses dealing with tourist; they don't care where you've been or where you are going. Everything was professional and clean. The breakfast was tasty and fresh. Other than the room size, the Rembrandt Classic was a nice experience.
