Great Location, average budget hotel...
The hotel was run down but in a great location. We just needed a place to crash so this hotel was perfect for us. Just minutes from the nearest neighborhood coffeeshop "Magic Coffeeshop". Better place to hang than your hotel room and the owner was very nice and welcomes Americans. Beware of hostility towards Americans in Amsterdam. It was a problem everywhere we went.

good base for a city break
Excelent location a few mins walk from all centre. Only gripe was the beds in the room, could feel springs, thought the wifes bed was ok. Hotel staff very good. We were given canal facing room which was nice (usualy extra) Breakfast was on offer at 7.50euros and was worth it but not at 12 euros. Noise of heavy doors shutting was annoying at times, im sure these could be dampened. overall would book again due mainly to location was so central.

Check in around 11 pm
It is a clean room with big bed, but the heater didnt work well. The stuff there is quite nice and friendly, they always tell you the most ecnomic way for your transportation choice. But it was a pity that I didnt have time to taste the breakfast there.

Good budget hotel in a fantastic location
Clean room, friendly staff but quite noisy! My room was on the ground floor and was a good size, unusual for a canalside hotel in Amsterdam. The room was spotlessly clean and the bathroom looked to be recently refitted. Banging doors did seem to be a speciality and singing staff was another interesting addition, but for the price and in this excellent location I would definitely use this hotel again.

In Hotel
Tea/coffee facilities cost €2,50 and then €2,50 per replenishment. I would recommend paying once and taking your own teabags/coffee.

Great location for touring Amsterdam
This hotel was a perfect base for seeing Amsterdam. The rooms are very basic without tea/coffee facilies, etc. but are spotlessly clean and all ensuite. I'd say at one time, this was a very upmarket hotel but you can see it is outdated now. However, as mentioned, it was very clean and excellent value for such a central location.

Perfect for first-time in Amsterdam
The staff was very understanding, friendly, and easy to check in/out with. Our room was clean and was taken care of everyday in a very neat and non-invasive manner. Hotel internet connection was good enough for communication and it was within a perfect walking distance to most of the major sites. Nice beds, hot showers (with a full bathtub), and I liked the safe in my room too.

Nightlife tip:
Short walk from hotel
De Wallen is probably less than 10 minutes away on foot and there's plenty of coffeeshops right around the hotel; Magic (Middle Eastern theme) and Rocklove (Rasta theme) being the closest. Magic was the only one I visited in the city that you had to be buzzed into but the budtender was cool and the patrons were friendly but mostly kept to themselves. Nice place to relax for a smoke ;)

Basic small room, no extras unless you pay!
Desk staff are nice enough but nothing special. Room is very small with no extras. No tea making facilities, only Enligh language TV station is BBC world news, wifi only if you pay for it and tiny shampoo/bathfoam in bathroom. On a plus, there is plenty of fast running hot water! Breakfasts aren't a bad deal either at 8euros but that was an offer and they're usually 12. Location is good. We had a room just off the main reception desk and it was very noisy! THERE ARE NO SMOKING ROOMS in this hotel!!! Take a superior room if you wish but the only difference is the view.
