Terrible customer service

Because of the Hurricane and over 3000 flights being canceled I couldn't make the trip and worked with Orbitz to get a refund from the Park Hotel. After being on hold for over three hours waiting for the Orbitz customer service staff they called the hotel to see if they would refund the over 600 dollars I had spend for the four day stay. The reservations supervisor wouldn't budge on the refund even though this was a unpresidented storm. I wouldn't recomend anyone staying at this hotel as they have terrible customer service and are unwilling to work with you.

Not Good

The hotel staff were excellent, and the facilities at the hotel were good, however the room itself was very basic and the toilet/shower were not even a seperate room which was unfortunate as I came down with a stomach upset whilst there, There was a great deal of activity outside the window as they were doing work on the hotel, this was not mentioned at the time of booking and we only booked just over a week before we travelled, and it would have probably made a difference to our decision, It was also a lot further out than the brochure said. All in all fantastic hotel and restaurant, gym and spa facilities , rooms not up to scratch.

Couples break

We had a room looking over the canal which unfortunately was very noisy at night. Got hardly any sleep the first night, a Friday. Got used to it somewhat but not good for light sleepers like myself. Other than that it was clean enough. Fine stay but def not worth what we paid.

Great Location

The location of the hotel was great. Housekeeping staff kept the room clean and did a great job. The shower smelled like sewer when not in use and the door leaked onto the floor. The room was small for the cost. It felt as if we paid for location which we were grateful to have.

Entertainment tip: Short walk from hotel

We enjoyed the Grand Cafe at Leidseplein. We would get there between 3 and 5 in the afternoon and sit outside enjoying the crowds and free entertainment along with something to drink and snack. We also ate a couple of meals here and had good food.

Amsterdam is awesome!

the staff was very friendly. the bed was super comfortable. although, it would have been nice if they changed the sheets daily or at least every other day. on the third night we noticed a strange odor (sewage) and it appeared there was an issue that other people on our floor had noticed as well. it didn't seem to be an issue on the rest of the hotel floors. the location is amazing as you are right down the street from some awesome museums and within walking disctance of so many other attractions.

Excellent location but room small

Hotel is close by Rijksmuseum and bus and tram lines. Canal boats are across the street. Hotel appearance, staff, facilities are very good. Our disappointment is with room size (very tight), inclusive bathroom (even more tight). Shower and toilet are in separate glass closets that would be hard for medium sized person to use. Wash basin is next to bed with a curtain room divider. Hotel restaurant is noisy and plays rock music at high level (enjoyed by 20-30 age set), Menu heavy on Sushi. Staff were all attentive and knowledgeable.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Breakfast not included. Hotel restaurant breakfast priced high. Try B & B restaurant or others 2-3 blocks away for reasonable pricing. Enjoyed Indonesian dinner on Stadhouderskade, just behind the hotel and across from the canal.

All in all, okay...

The absolute best part of the Park Hotel is its location. Right next door to Vondelpark (think Amsterdam's Central Park), across the canal from shopping, cafés, coffee shops, casino, etc. You can walk to Amsterdam's Center in about 10 minutes. This said, we did not take public transportation once while we were there. The hotel itself definitely makes a 4 Star impression upon arrival. The interior is modern and chic, but to the point that they sacrificed comfort and utility for looks. (A prime example is the bathroom sink, which looks really cool, but inevitably makes an ungodly mess. Or the decorative pillows in the rooms which seem to be made of plastic.) The rooms are tiny, but that is to be expected in Amsterdam. The Park hotel appears to have combined one new and one old building some time in its past - this makes for a quite labyrinthine layout. Put on your walking shoes if you are booked in the old part! It will take you a while to enter or leave the hotel. The hotel staff was nice enough; by that I mean that they were not rude, but certainly not cordial either. They also have a fair share of hidden costs: 20 Euro for 24hrs of internet, 3.50 Euro for each order of room service, etc. We never ate at the hotel restaurant (MoMo), because the prices just appeared prohibitively expensive to us. I would not recommend this hotel for families traveling with children. It is fine for couples and business travelers though. All in all, the Park Hotel has a 5 Star location, a 4 Star look, but 3 Star service and amenities.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

The Hotel is almost immediately across the canal from Leidseplein - a great shopping strip in Amsterdam. Any tourist new to the city can find pretty much anything the guidebook suggests right there (except for the Red Light District, that is).

Good location, could need improvements

Great location, very close to restaurants and the tram stops which made getting around Amsterdam really easy. Also close to a number of museums. One strange thing about the room is that there is no wall separating the bedroom and bathroom (just a shower curtain), would have been nice to have more privacy. Another negative is that because it is so close to the tram lines you can hear the tram bells in the morning which can get a little irritating. Overall however a decent hotel
